Dressing as a man, I've always threaded my belt through my pants loops starting at the left of my fly ending up with the buckle on the lhe buckle on the left.

Do women thread their belts through their jeans and pants the same way?

I don't know about other GG's, but I've always threaded my belt from which ever side the zipper opening faced.

The largest part of the belt (the buckle assembly) is now sitting just to the side of the zipper opening, as opposed to being on top of it, and as such it was not sticking out as far from the body . . . it tends to look less-bulky and provides a slimmer-looking appearance to the waistline, IMHO.

In the case of those metal stretch belts, with the simple 'hook' closure, I always threaded it opposite the way I do a regular belt. Why? Easy . . . so the 'hook' can catch on the material of the zipper opening, and that helps to keep the belt from sliding around (by 'anchoring' it on the material).

However, if I am wearing a belt (of any kind) on a skirt or pair of slacks with a side or rear zipper, then I tend to thread the belt from the right side . . . just because I'm right-handed, I guess!

I decided to look at pictures of women's belts on the internet. Most of the time the pictures show women wearing belts in the same way I wear men's pants. Occasionally, I found then just the opposite. I guess it doesn't make much difference.

Don't trust all of the pictures on the internet and especially in catalogs. The designers of the catalogs will often flip the picture so it looks right on the page, so what may look like a belt going one way was actually going the opposite way.

You can sometimes tell if the picture is flipped by other cues, most notably the pockets on jeans. Most have a small change or pocket watch pocket which is always on the right. If the picture shows it on the left, the picture is flipped. Other cues could be but not certain are watches (usually on the left wrist) or wedding ring (not often worn by models in pictures).

Thanks for the post Sissy. Until now I never put much thought into which way a belt should go. I see now how it could change the appearance.

If the fold over the zipper is on the right, then threead the belt to the right. This would be opposite to a mans pants.
