Earliest "dressing" memory

My earliest memory of "dressing up" is from about age 8 (a long time ago). My mother had two silk blouses, one green and the other a sort of orange. When I put one of them on it fit me like a dress; I was hooked! I soon found her wedding dress and shoes in a cedar chest. The dress was a satin sheath and the shoes were strappy high-heeled sandals. This was my favorite thing to wear until
I became too big.
I spent many hours looking at girls party dresses and shoes in the Montgomery Wards and Spiegle catalogs wishing that I could
have a few. Of course, that never happened!

Carole,
I too can remember dressing myself up out of a big thick Sears catalog
I would start with my panties, bra, slip and then find a beautiful dress to wear and a pair of heels. Yes very fond memories growing you.

Catalogues are a girls best friend. Nothing like stimulating the interest and our fantasies while browsing a catalogue of beautiful clothing, underwear to dresses, skirts and tops.

Catalogues and fashion magazines were guaranteed to send me into dreamland when I was a teenager. I could almost feel the pull of the bra or girdle I was ogling and wishing I could have them on

I spent most of my life from age 11 through high school pouring over the Sears catalog and fantasizing every single item of a perfect outfit beginning with bra, panties and hose and moving on to slip, dress or skirt and blouse. Adding shoes, a wig and makeup as well as jewelry made my dream complete.
