Pet Peeves?

Ladies
We know most of you ladies are always mentally critiquing other women when you're out and about at the mall, the beach or wherever....(be honest now).

...so...what are your biggest peeves about what they are wearing or how they are carrying themselves? (i.e too prissy or too girly girl?)
What about accessories? Anything specific you like (or dislike) seeing on other women? Just wondering if there is anything specific I should be avoiding. Thx.

Hi, Stephanie -
One of my biggest 'pet peeves'?? I *really* do not like seeing people with lots of tattoos, or piercings on their eyebrows, nose, lip, tongue, etc. - especially if they work in a service-related industry such as being a waiter/waitress, store clerk, cashier, etc.

Hi Stephanie,
I see it this way. If one is poor, a ripped hundred dollar bill looks pretty good. Hard to critisize and easy to admire. That is how I see women. There is too much to like to be annoyed by imperfections.
Love always,
Elizabeth

The purpose of my question was a simple matter of observation, unscientific, and devoid of any deep hidden meaning, and certainly not intended as a criticism of women. Sorry if you felt that. While I wouldn't personally equate the entire female population to a ripped $100 bill, I think I know what you meant in your analogy.
What I was getting at is purely personal opinion on what our ladies here think when they look at other women and see something 'not quite right' or that 'they don't care for'. Hope that makes more sense.

Hi Stephanie,
There are many, many looks, outfits and styles that I don't care for and I love to sit outside a cafe in the summer and people watch! I will look at folks hmm and ooh at what they are wearing...'hmm, I really would not wear those shoes with that' or 'ooh, I wish I could look as stylish as that'...but I really would not offer my opinion as to what people should avoid as I feel strongly about standing in judgement of others! As someone married to a guy who likes to wear stuff that is not normally deemed as 'appropriate attire' I really like to refrain on passing comment on how other people dress, it would seem so wrong and hypocritical. This is a hard call for me as I love fashion and could easily spout on about what is cool and what is not cool to wear, believe me! But I genuinely try to apply these 'rules' to myself only and not inflict my, or various fashion editors half baked ideas on others! Any fashion rules and comments I make are strictly applied to 'me' not anyone else as that is so up to you what you choose to like and wear!
I have a huge list of what I avoid wearing but will not post as I would not want to offend anyone who does actually like to wear these things.... OK...just a few

Glittery tops, animal print, sportswear with bling jewellery, socks with sandals but hey, if you like these things I won't hold it against you

As you know it is a woman's perogative to change her mind, so although I wouldn't be seen dead in animal print now, who knows how I might feel in a few seasons time
Love,
Curly.

Lately my wife has had a pet peeve when nobody notices (or at least mentions to her) her earrings or a newly worn piece of clothing.
I recently bought her a set of 8 pairs of large crystal earrings, each pair a different color, and nobody at church or any other gatherings has told her that they looked nice. She likes them, and I like them. They came from QVC and I got a set for each of us, pierced for her, clips for me. I've bought a few pairs and sets of earrings through QVC and have always been pleased with the high quality.
Last night she wore a new pair of earrings (small black elephants with a couple of small rhinestones) with a new to her seasonal top, black with the gold outlines of leaves (a thrift store find she borrowed from me), and again, no compliments.
Finally, this morning at church she wore the elephant earrings and did get a compliment from one of the ladies.

Well, I think I have been taken to the woodshed enough expressing my feelings about the clothing that I see, so no comment on that!
However, my SO and I were out at dinner tonight and I watched the, shall I say, social graces, pursued by those in the restaurant. Basically, we no longer, evidently, have any social graces left!

This applies to both (or all three) sexes, if you want. The way people sit at the table, the way they use their utensils (i.e., knife, fork, spoon), chewing their food, talking with their mouth's full of food. Loud talking, uncontrolled jestering and dare I even mention cell phones??

As we were leaving the manager had just "sat" some folks at a table and stepped right in front of my SO, Oh, he saw us, it was just his lack of manners! Some of these folks eating would have probably been just as content had the waitress scrapped their food off the plate and onto the floor. They would have looked as comfortable down on all fours eating as they did sitting at the table, waiving utensils in the air, adjusting their filthy baseball caps and evidently not having a clue what or where to use or put a napkin!
Oh, in their defense it was an Applebee's Restaurant, God help me if I end up in a Waffle House!
Pet peeve?????? Well, guess not any more it is just the state of our society!

I did not intend to compare a woman to a torn $100 bill. The relationship was between how a poor person feels about a torn $100 bill. That is how I feel about women. There is so much I like about them, the little I don't like becomes insignificant, just as the tear in the $100 bill is insignificant to the poor person finding it.

I've commented on this before, but I get really easily PO'd when I observe couples going out. When both persons are dressed in similar fashion, it doesn't bug me. A lot of the time, though, I see a woman dressed to the nines: dress, heels, and classy jewelry with full makeup. Her partner is dressed in khaki pants with a golf shirt, or even jeans and a tee! Maybe I'm just sensitive because I crossdress, but that just burns me up. I mean, if I went to all the trouble to "dress up" for some function, and my date came for Casual Friday, I'd be steamed.

One of my pet peeves is when I see a white shirt with a black bra underneath. I mean, if a person really doesn't have any other colored bras, they could wear a different shirt and not look totally trashy.
Edit: I thought of a better word! Yay!

I think my pet peeves are talking with mouth full, eating with mouth open, elbows on the table, and guys eating with their hats on at the table.
This reminded me of something that happened a number of years ago. My daughter from back east brought her 3 year old granddaughter out to visit one summer. She could not get the girl to eat with her mouth closed and thought dad might help.
While she was here we went to visit a daughter and her 2 kids in the eastern part of the state. While there we went into a bar to have lunch and all of us were sitting around a large table with the greatgrand daughter sitting next to me.
The meal was served and I kept telling the greatgrand daughter to eat with her mouth closed. Finialy my wife called her by name and said " Shortly after grandpa and I were married I kept eating with my mouth open and do you know what happened?"
Of cours the ggd had no clue so my wife slipped out her upper plate. The ggd jumped out of her chair by me and went over to my wife. She also refused to eat any more of her food.
What we didn't realize was that the guys at the bar were watching the whole thing transpire and were laughing thier asses off.
enough of my 2 cents worth

Amen to that one Amanda! Also what about women who wear little cami tops with their bra straps showing, hasn't the younger generation heard of strapless bras?

Saw a 'bright young thing' yesterday wearing a black cami top with BRIGHT ORANGE bra straps showing - I thought she looked quite cool

but I didn't have the bottle to ask her where she got the bra from

Hi all,
I'm not a GG, so I don't feel I can answer Stephanie's question but... you may want to have a little bit of fun with this site:
thefashionpolice.net's "Fashion Criminals" archive But, hey! who am I to judge? (I actually like some of these outfits!)
Knock yourself out, Curly!
Love,
CJ

Love the site CJ! There are some pretty damn awful outfits on there
Can't say there were many I liked, maybe a couple of the more casual looks were OK and in some pics it was the boobs that were the issue not the outfits
Hey, I'm sure we've all committed fashion crimes in our time!
Love,
Curly
