How successful was the event? Give us an update.

DRAB to FABulous (D2F) is an event that celebrates being OUT enfemme in the general public. It requires those in attendance to be "passable" but not beauty queens or super models.

D2F is set up to be reasonably priced. Rooms were under $100 at a really nice hotel. All dining was at local restaurants, lunch was usually around $10, dinner was usually around $15. All of the food was great and the service very good. We were accepted everywhere we went. But I had prescreened everywhere many times over the last six months and twice just before D2F. So there was nothing left to chance.

Each day we had a few planned events and some flexibility. The flexibility became a great means to facilitate some girls bucket list items.

We had a luncheon at The Grand Rapids Women's City Club. This is a historical Italianate home with an attached ballroom/restaurant. We were likely the first CDers in the nearly 100 year history to dine there. It was quite elegant and delicious.

We had formal dance and a queen contest. Then we bar hopped in our gowns.

Everyone said that they had a great time and will be returning for the 2015 D2F.

I had hoped for five people the first year and building from there. We had almost twenty at the formal dance. The other events ranged from a low of about seven on Thursday and Friday, to the higher number on Saturday. So the numbers were better than I had hoped for.

Apparently the word is out about our Group and D2F. The feedback from that word of mouth is that it went well. I believe next year will be bigger. I now have some experience and have tweaked the schedule to reflect that.
