How friendly is St Louis towards us girls?

Hello Mods, I'm not sure if this is the correct place it seems to be. But if it's not please move it and accept my apologies.....thanks!

A bit of brief back story to set the scene. I was setting my birthday of Jan 19th to come out to my wife but shortly before then she got some unsettling news from her brother in the US. He had a swelling on the side of his neck which had the doctors worried. We all thought the worst and it was the big C. He'd seen his GP and got a referral to the hospital and a specialist.

Well these things take time, which is never good for the patient or loved ones. Finally got the biopsy results back and it turns out to be benign sebaceous cyst (a big bugger). We all breathed a huge sigh of relief. A quick trip to the doctors, a quick procedure which he told us in gory detail  and all is well. *-*

Mark is the only family she has left and this scared her being so far away so we're contemplating heading back to the US and her home town of St. Louis. However she's not sure how tolerant the locals are to us. Her family is old money country club set and the never accepted, just paid lip service to me because I'm not a doctor, lawyer, bank manager, stockbroker etc which the girls of her family are supposed to marry for status not love. So as you can imagine the looks on their faces if Joanne shows up a Strathalbyn arm in arm with Michelle and god forbid we should sneak a kiss.

Anyone here from St Louis and know anything about the scene? any CD/TG friendly shops, salons, coffee houses etc.

As always thanks for any input.

Love and hugs,
Michelle.

No first hand experience, but try googling "Trans hot spots in St Louis."

Google is your friend.

Thanks Paulette, I tried that but the only definitive hit was a trans friendly salon where the owner is more than willing to help us with our hair and give advice on makeup. If I was in the market for a therapist or counsellor, St Louis that's the place to be but I'm not in the market for one. Oh well I'll keep looking and maybe strike pay dirt.

Hugs,
Michelle

I have been to StL a few times, mostly just passing through. This part of the U.S. is not the most liberal, not the most intolerant, either. Proceed with caution, but not fear.

I came up with this (although I think the site may not have been updated since 2011):

Anthony,

You are so correct as I grew up in StL, BUT it ain't what it used to be.

Thanks for the link Anthony, the site may not have been updated in a while but there's a bucket load of good reading there...thanks!

Carol like you my wife is St. Louis born and bred and she said after an extended visit a couple of years ago how it's all changed.

Martina, when I'm brave enough to venture out I will be cautious and steer clear of some areas most likely my first trip out dressed there will be to a large box store Walmart or Target where I can get lost in the crowd (hopefully :) ) Besides after looking at "People of Walmart" there's more interesting people there than me.

Thanks everyone.
Michelle.
