IMHO i feel you , we can . The other day i thougth i feel like shopping but So was home so no make-up was possible or wig & i didn't really feel like getting all dressed up besides most gg's don't either. So I went to the Liz Clabourne store ( i went in my favourite tight fem jeans, male top & 3in boots ).I've been there before & they were very friendly & even call me by name ,but the girl i normally see wasn't there . They were having a sale so they had extra Sa on (4 older & one in the 20'S ) all noticed my heeled right away had a quick chat with themselves then after about a minute the younger one askes if i need help ( not yet i reply with a smile). Then the other girl i delt with came out ,saw me came right over said hi & pointed out all the new stuff.Found some tried on didn't feel right,so as I was about to leave spot a nice jacket ( kind with a button to wear long or short ) tried on right there , no mirror so went over to the 5 girls & asked does this look like if fits good on me (younger one asked are you going to wear open or closed , open i say then it looks great on you) I decide to take it & while at the register Im now chatting with all five like a regular gg about , clothes , shopping ,food ( I was in a rather good mood so I had them laughing & smiling)told them have a nice day all smiled and said come again. Feeling good , lets go to the mall. I get there ( mother & teenage daughter get out same time as me , look at me,I smile ,see my heels , look at each other & gigle )i smile & continiue in the mall . Found a nice belt at one store , went to pay chatted with the two teenage girls for about five minutes , continuing on one more store then i should go home . I walking to the store called smart set & a mother & 9-12 year old daughter see me (I smile at them) they stop , & realize I going in the store they were heading too( to my surprise ) they follow right behide ( no gigles ) and browse the store like i was just another girl. all in all a wonder shopping day . Hope i wasn't to long .Stephenie G

I think there are quite a lot of open minded people, and it is only our internal fear that holds us back from having good experiences such as you enjoyed.

And so what if some store SA disapproves, there's always another store not far away.

Hi all,

Yeah, attitude makes a difference. I often buy my clothing and shoes in thrift shops. A few times, the cashier or SA has commented (sometimes negatively) on my purchases, pointing out that they're intended for women, but I'm usually good at "disarming" them. I once went to a major thrift store where I found a perfect pair of heels (I was in drab as I don't really shop en femme). The woman behind the counter, upon seeing my intended purchase, frowned and said, "You know, these are women's shoes." Without pausing for a beat, I put fifteen bucks next to the heels and replied, "Then consider this women's money and you'll be fine." That got a laugh out of her and her demeanor immediately became much less frosty.

Show people you're just another person (just like they are)... because, of course, you are! and things'll usually be all right.

Love,
CJ

Good Morning Girls,

I have to imagine that like everything else in life the people with creative minds and imaginative personalities would tend not to be negative. I've got one friend, Cookie, that when she first saw me dressed was not shocked but surprised. She kept an open mind and now wants to find out what I'm wearing and takes an interest in CD'ing. Cookie by the way is in her 70's - it just takes an person with an open mind.

Love
