Keystone Conference in Harrisburg, PA

Post by SharonRose »

Hi Ladies,

Last weekend I attended the Keystone Conference in Harrisburg, PA. The conference was organized by TransCentralPA, a support group for transgender persons in Harrisburg and surrounding areas. It was their first annual conference. Previously they had just a spring gala.

I drove to and from the conference en femme, stopping along the way for lunch.

On Friday afternoon I had my first trip to the nail salon. I had acrylic nails attached. I thought it would be worth it since I would be spending a few days en femme. The people at the salon were friendly, and I even chatted with the GG at the next table while my nails were being done. She either didn't know or didn't care that I was Transgender.

It took a while getting used to long fingernails. Buttoning my blouse was hard! After dressing for the evening I had a makeover with Amanda Richards, a Transgender makeup artist from southeastern PA. She runs a business called True Colors Makeup Artistry.

She is very friendly and also explained what she was doing while applying my makeup.

I posted a photo in my gallery which was taken Friday night after the makeover. Several of us went downtown for dinner and out to a club afterwards.

On Saturday there were presentations before and after lunch. Donna Rose and Mara Keisling spoke at the conference. Saturday night there was a dinner and gala.

On Sunday I went to the salon to get the acrylic nails removed, and chatted again with a GG at the next table.

I enjoyed attending the conference. I was able to spend more time en femme than I usually do, and it helped to release some of the stress that has been building up inside of me. The workshops also gave me alot to think about. I'll try to post some of my thoughts later when I have a chance.

Hugs,

Sharon

You had me going for a bit.

I was wondering how you were going to hide the nails, for work ;)

A couple of the nails have a slight bit of acrylic left on them. It would take a close inspection for someone to notice, and no one has.

Hi Sharon,
I'm glad you had a great time at the conference. I look forward to reading about it. (when I have more time!)
I recently spoke to one of my "sisters" about salon nails. She told me how much better they are than the cheap stuff you buy at the store. I may have to try that sometime. I have not liked glue-on nails much and have been letting my real nails grow (to some degree) although I don't leave them long for any great length of time. I wish I could, but I'm just a big chicken.

Hugs,
Kyra

Sharon.....Don't woory about your nails. I have long acrylic covered, polished nails 24/7. No one even at work even notices them.
