As I grew up I had several family friends that I spent a great deal of time playing with. They were girls and although I played the tough little boy thing because it wasn't cool for a boy to play with dolls, I did come to like the dolls they brought into our play time. As an adult I bought several dolls for my wife (here comes a secret, wait for it) and a couple for me. I guess it was trying to recapture a safe fun time. Here is my favorite.....

I named her Wendy, no reason, just a name that struck me. This doll is no longer making her home with me, she went to live with a real GG that I was working with on eBay. She had some problems and I just knew this sweet little doll could brighten her day. I was very sad to pack her up but the phone call I got from her new owner made my day and erased the sadness.
There is still a doll who lives in my office at work. Unfortunately she lives in the back of my file cabinet drawer and generally only sees me when I am sad.
I named her Paula because she reminds me of the little girl I played with so many years ago.
One final picture, if your new Barbie ROCKS, then this one ROLLS, IMHO.....
I don't own this doll, we could only dream. This is a 1956 Yardley advertisement and it features a Madam Alexander doll, what a classic. My wife has one of these old ads framed in the bathroom, it really is a very pretty ad.
Thank you for the iindulgence of bragging about my toys......
