Value Village Alaska!

Post by Tea Cake »

Value Village in Anchorage Alaska rocks! usually lots of good shoes I wear size 10(open-toe) to 11. and just got a really strappy pair of heels and lots of cool skirts. I even found a long brown dress that works well. Usually dresses are tough for me but this one works! I'm working on being able to Pass as a stylish-gal..lot's of practice at home but only out a few times with my ex-girlfriend. She's cool about me dressing up and sends me stuff sometimes. I kind of miss having a girl to shop with but know that we all must have lots of character and staying classy ALWAYS pays off later. Am interested in punky looks too but usually stick to longsleeve tops, sparkley-skirts, jean jacket, and clunky boots. My favorite wig is red and I always try to match my outfits to it. I wish I had a nicer one but it feels like ME for now. .....would love to talk clothes with someone----------Tea-cake

Hi Tea- Cake!
Nice to see nother girl from Alaska. The first time that I went o Value Village I was totally self concious that someone was staring at me ( like they care) LOL. I got over that. They have some great deals there. A friend of mine just reminded me that Garage Sales are always a goldmine. Nice to get stuff from Ex, at least she seems cool about it. I Love the Punk look also, although I havn't really given it a go yet. Rockabilly is cute also. They have some great Rockabilly dresses @ MariaPosa at the Dimond mall up stairs next to Eyeglass place. And let me know if you find and place with a good shoe selection.

shopping

Post by Tea Cake »

Hi Cami,-----I know just what you mean about having to get used to shopping for femme-wear, I'm SO GLAD I did too. I love the kind of outfit-styles that come from putting together second-hand-scores.. Sometimes I'll get new-store stuff( like my extra-cool boots!), but even more than the $$-saved from thrift-shopping I just LOVE:
---- the one-of a kind suprises that lay waiting...
---- just flipping through racks and racks of clothes with all the faint blends of perfumes
-----and getting outfit ideas from seeing all the colors and textiles stream-by.
I'm so glad you mentioned a Rockabilly-look, reminding me of some cool gals I knew long ago. They were cute and classy in their black and red cowgirl-boots and they both always had the greatest vintage- dresses! I was JEALOUS!!
I'm going to add that place to my list.--
---------So shoe-wise I bet you know The LOOK:...sometimes I go there just for fun( I only get to Anchorage every blue moon so I shop and shop!) ---anyway amidst all the shiny-red glam-heels I remember seeing a very sharp pair of leather creepers with these cool cat faces stitched in leather across the toes! That thick-crepe sole would really turn on the Rockabilly girl-style!
Do you know where to look for good wigs in Anch?----that's all for now----BYE!-------- 8) Tea-cake

Tea-Cake,

For Wigs I was told by a good friend that the wig shop @ the Dimond mall is the one to go to. I believe the gentalmens name that runs it is Helmut & he is supposed to be real hush hush, and quit funny I understand. Good luck I'm off to work now in the wonderful town of Anchorage ;-)
