I think Angie makes an excellent point. I've seen many GG's while out and about who don't necessarily walk or move in an overly feminine way. But nobody will deny that they are female. I think dressing for the occasion is definitely important. When I go out shopping I try to dress like other women who are in the store, not the way I'd dress to a party or formal event.
Nicole, you definitely have the right attitude. It used to bother me when people made comments to one another as I passed them by. Now, I just tell myself that its none of my concern. That's how they feel. As long as they don't wish me any harm, I don't care what they think.
Beauty, you also make a valid point. At least, for those of us that want to be perceived as female, we should make some effort to look the part. Granted, there are some who just want the freedom to wear some articles of female clothing while out in public. But for the rest of us, a little effort goes a long way.
Remember also that many crossdressers are "a work in progress." We are learning things that young women and girls had many years to absorb. There is some element of trial and error. My first wig wasn't the best style for me, and my first makeup probably wasn't the best either. And my skill at selecting a wig, applying makeup, and wearing appropriate clothing has gradually improved over time. So when you see that CD who is not passing at all, who looks like they are not trying to fit in, maybe they are a newbie on their first time out.

Can't wait I guess!
Just blurting out my thought here...!
Unlike myself, I believe there are those who just want to go "out there" thinking they have no chance at passing but want to go out nonetheless.
I would say I am still "in the closet" for the fact that I still have a gut to lose and other things. ( that I am hoping will get better in time). But if I felt I could pass then I think I would be willing to go out. (I have been wanting to for some time now!) But until I am ready, I really doubt I will.
