How I dress.
Now that is rather funny as I never dress for any one else to see. I for the most part just sleep in my leotards and bodysuits. Now when it is winter and cold I do use bodysuits as a base layer to help me stay warm. Not to say that I have never gone outside in "womans" clothes. I have. I will sometimes swim in a one piece swimsuit. It does help that I have a pool in my back yard. I do have one bodysuit that I will some times wear out with my jeans or shorts. The reason I do not wear more out is that I live in a town that is a rather large farm town that has to many people that are of a closed mind to anything outside of the "norm". Though I have stopped being nervous when I buy something.

That's cool Gavin.... I think the majority (well probably all of us CD's) dress for ourselves as most people do (other than Bus Drivers and Hookers)
I wear what I like and enjoy, I know my wife thinks it is very NOT what real women wear.... But I am not dressing to be a real woman....

comic relief
What do you say to a police officer/security guard that just discovered you're not a girl?
"Now you've got something to talk about with the guys back at the station." :D
[yes, I've used that line more than once.]

Once you've taken the first few steps outside and are ready to be seen in broad daylight, load up the car and head for the nearest tourist trap and keep that camera by your face as if you're taking pictures -- this way if anybody starts to stare, they'd be more inclinded to look at what you're taking pictures of, not you.
Besides, places full of tourists is also a place full of people "out of place" so you'll fit right in!:) Good luck.

My taste in clothing starts at casual (Femme Jeans etc.) to corporate. SO and I discuss my outfits to make sure that when I am dressed it is in a manner that will not cause embarassment nor draw attention. My visit to a Support Meeting did draw a look and a chuckle from a young couple when I was driving home. Their chuckles stopped and they were rather embarrassed themselves when, at traffic lights, I looked over and gave them a little smile and a ladylike wave. You would think that being in Sydney they wouldn't have bothered as it is the Australian GLBT Capital. Lovely night drive home though.

This is an old thread. I was going through my old posts and ran across this one and decided to update it. I still do not try to pass however I have taken to wearing skirts on a more regular basis. I now have 8 skirts as compared to when I joined not owning one. I have been wearing fem pjs more now as well.

For me I dress to suit myself, funny as it goes back to my mother as she was a lady at all times and when I dressed as a teenage she made sure I was proper at all times and it carrys over to this day. I try and my wife will tell me if I don't look or dress like a lady. Hay IMO if you are gonna do it do it proper and be a lady.

Each TG moves at her own pace. The fact that you can go and buy something is still a great achievement though.Gaven McLaren wrote:The reason I do not wear more out is that I live in a town that is a rather large farm town that has to many people that are of a closed mind to anything outside of the "norm". I like to dress sleazy at home, but when I go out, the bras don't show nipples, the skirts are longer and I don't wear heels. I'm 6' as it is.
I dress pretty conservative, although I don't go out with a full compliment of jewelry (necklace, bracelet, ring, watch, ankle bracelet and earings). I see a lot of women don't do that.
I also notice I go out with full makeup including lipstick and many women don't bother with that either.
So far, I've made it out without any issues or problems and no one has made a comment about my dressing. Either they don't care or didn't notice, so I must be doing something right!
I hope to get some pictures next time out, but not sure how to take them of myself without drawing attention.

Barbara,
You kind of glossed over the "got caught" part. I am sure a lot of us would like more details on how that transpired. It must have come out good as you elude to the fact that your wife now helps you in your presentation. Perhaps you could entice her to share with us as well?
Don't mean to be too nosey, but you started it!
Love ya,
