This bra is available at Wal-Mart for about $6 - it is thin enough to hide under a shirt but firm enough to hold breastforms without wires, etc. I have bought it a bit larger than a Bali or other commercial bra as it is a firm garment.

I would have to agree, with Joanna_s, and a host of others no doubt. Pesonaly, I find that a cheap , no support, nowires, made in China, etc., bra gives me a better look(assuming you have attachable forms) than a foam bra. I would like to hear from Kathy in the ice box what her thoughts are and all you gals who own ,like 20 or 30 bras - you gals can"t like those bras that there shoving us now , can you?Needra

"I am a serious athlete and I need serious support..."

A high performance sports bra is important while your body is
in motion. We designed the ENELL to fit tight yet still be
comfortable. ENELL will improve your ability to master your
sport or increase the vigor of your workouts. Stop the bounce
and you can concentrate on improving your speed, strength and
skills.

You choose the best shoes and equipment for your sport, now
choose the best bra!

But wait a minute! To be sure, in matters of taste, people can (and surely will) do what they want, and if it makes them happy, that may be the decisive consideration. Still, it is worth asking, “What do I want from my bra?” Wonderful as a sports bra might be for protecting the breasts of a genetic woman during strenuous athletic training or competition, I think most CD’s have a different goal in mind. I doubt that even a female Olympic athlete would wear a sports bra when she wanted to look glamourous. Most would seek some optimal combination of support, shape, and comfort, which would suggest a bra from (say) Victoria’s Secret rather than one from (say) Russell Athletic Wear.

I love underwires

Post by Patty M »

I have to admit that for the most part I love underwire bras. I love the feel and the controlled shaping that they give. I have always been on the quest for a bra that will fit me without my forms. I know of a couple of places on the web where I can order a 42AA bra but have not had the cash yet to do so. Right now I am wearing a Bali minimizer bra that I got at Sears it is an underwire bra with soft cups. It is about as close to a good fit that I have come without wearing forms. When you find the right fit in a bra it is heaven! You know it is there but can wear it all day and night. Guess that I am rambling now girls.

I think we probably are outnumbered here, but I agree with you. I will preface this as I have other, related posts by saying that clothing “fit” depends on an agreeable fit between the person and the item. What’s good for the goose may not be good for the gander! Currently, however, I have two Bali soft cup bras (Manufacturer’s Style #3820) and two Victoria’s Secret underwire bras. The underwire bras, for me, are the more comfortable. They have wide, soft straps that pamper your shoulders. They are made of high-tech microfiber, a blend of nylon and Lycra® spandex, which is very comfortable.

The “wires” are not really a wires. I would guess they are made of plastic or some similar synthetic material. They are flat, not round like the wire you would use to hang a picture. In the photo below, they are in the half-circles at the bases of the bra cups. (There is nothing but fabric in the band.) The so-called “wires” are covered by soft fabric, further insuring that they will not dig into you or even be noticeable.  As I said, for me, this kind of bra is very comfortable, and it holds silicone breast forms in place exceptionally well, without any need to use tape or glue or any kind.

Hi Anne,

Long time no see. :)
(--)
I ordered a lot of those just this weekend. I no longer want to wear the bras that allow me to wear forms. I'm going to go with these going forward. :)

I ordered them in different colors because I now want to color coordinate my top and bottom undergarments. :)

Hi Beauty (--) - I'm around 8) (probably pass you in the street once a week :)

The bra I recommend here is specifically a great bra to lay flat on the body. I hope you like them. I wore my new black one under a new evening dress I got at the thrift store south on Rt. 1 - lovely.

As some others have said here like Jamie Ann, there are other styles that I would chose for holding forms and having a great shape and fit. Bali styles seem to be my favorite (great prices at The Mills) but I have good ones from Jockey & Delicates from JCPenney. My preference for form bras are support, seamlessness, and full coverage as I don't like the forms to peek out much.

Let us know your experiences with the soft styles you get. Yours, Anne

I tried one of these bras last evening at Wal-Mart. As I was wearing my forms I had to try the 38C and didn't like the way it gave the smashed, monoboob look. Guess that is the way exercise bras work.

We have about twice as much trouble getting the correct bra size as GGs. Usually 2 or more different sizes to work with. Next time I go maybe without forms, I will find a 38A or B that fits.

Yes, the flat bras will squish a bit more than a good underwire.

If you get one of the BestForms at Wal-Mart, get a size or two or three larger than your normal underwire size. I'm typically a 38, I bought a white 40 and then a black 42. If I buy more I may go for a 44.

You'll want to get the right amount of non-squish without being so loose your forms flop around :(

Again the benefit of these are no show through with clothes as they lie very flat (no hardware, strap adjusters, etc)

Hi girls,

I love both underwire and soft cup bras. When I purchased my forms, I started of with 2 soft cup bras specifically designed from breast forms (which were not cheap) and going by the measure charts I ordered 38C, size five forms.
Whilst, these bras give great shape and feel, I thought I would purchase some less expensive soft cup bras and see how things went. I ordered 2 cheaper, see-through lace bras through the internet, from a company who shall remain nameless.
Surfice, to say they got my order wrong, sending the wrong wig (that's another story) and the 2 bras they sent were 38D instead of C.
However, I'd ripped off all the packaging =P~ before realizing they were the wrong size. So, I tried them away with the forms and to my delight they an even better fit than the correctly sized expensive bras. :)
Which as said earlier, there can be some difference between the different manufacturers sizing, either that or I got my size wrong in the first place.

Anne, you said:

Actually, I have had a form fall out! Now that could be embarrassing!

Charlotte,
Interesting you have a 38C with size 5 forms, and then found they fit well in a 38D. I have size 8 forms and use a 38C. Also have the bra designed for forms, and I (well, the form) is not well supported at the bottom. In fact, I can pass the pencil test. Have been thinking about trying a D (or did I already do that?). So many bras, so little time…

Hi Susann,

I think the main difference between the 38C and D cup was, whilst the C was firm and gave great shape it made the forms feel a little rigid.
The D gave what I personally felt was a more natural feel. To compenstate for the larger cup, I had the bra hooked further in, if that makes any sense. 8-[
And for me, this still gives forms (boobs) a good definition or to put it more crudely sticky outy.

Aloha!

I have two pairs of forms in my closet that I always loved and haven't touched in a very, very long while. :-k I have no idea what happened to me, but now I like to feel my own chest. #-o Since it could be a phase, I'd rather not abandon them though. :) I think about how nice it was to wake up wearing them, but otherwise I like to just go au naturale. :)

So yes I like the sports bras. :) They are super snug and they fit just right. :)

Anne, I didn't see your response to my post before. :( Sorry about that. I'm glad you did respond though. (--) My order came in and I've been wearing them a lot. :) I wore several of them 3 days in a row to work and then a couple of times on the weekend. :) It was very comfy.

Why is it that everyone decides to pat you on the shoulder when you have a bra on? :) :) I wasn't worried I was wearing either a sweater or a loose enough shirt (with an undershirt to make double sure. :)

This is a fun thread. :) :) :) =D> :) :) :)

On the subject of bras...........
I developed gynecomastia in my 40's and decided against surgery. I decided to start wearing a bra and was properly measured but finding the right fit was something else. It seams that even the same manufacturer can not get this right!
Trial and error is the best way to get the right fit and once you find it, buy several bras of the same type. Colours optional.
Through all of this I have learned one thing important. The male body is framed different from that of the female. The breasts are naturally further apart. I have learned that if I wear an underwire bra, it is necessary to reshape the wires. The outside ends of the wires( last inch) must be bent out on a 45 degree angle. This prevents the wires from digging into the body.
I wear softcup, underwire, padded, all kinds, which ever type is comfortable. Once again, this depends on the bra. I do not wear to give projection, but must admit that some of the most comfortable bras do give a nice "Line"!
