If it true that most Goth's started out because they we the out-ed people and the nerds in school then most likely if there would have been Goths in my time then I would have been one. But is there more to the true Goth than just the clothes?

Is it not true that the true Goth believes in the devil and worships him? I am just asking because I want to understand the live style. I could not have been a Goth if it meant believing in the devil my father would have beat me half to death. Not that he didn't anyway.

Please understand that I am not attempting to start anything I just want to understand so if I ever have to deal with it I can from understanding the meaning of Goth.

Gelinda.

Nobody believes in 'the devil' but Xians. There are a multitude of spiritual beliefs in the Goth community; I know atheist Goths, Xian Goths, Pagan Goths, Buddhist Goths, Taoist Goths, Goths who feel that their spirituality transcends labels of any type, and yes, Satanist Goths - although LaVeyite Satanism is essentially the belief that 'I am God', not some tarted-up reverse Xianity.

I'm not sure I could define anything that all 'true Goths' believe. I would say, respect death, own your insanity, tolerate anything tolerable (and nothing intolerable), don't f@&k with people's freedom of choice, and accept people for who and what they are. I think the majority, at least of people I care to have the company of, believe in the same things.

being "goth" has nothing to do with one's religion or dieteic (sp?) beliefs.

It's more about a state of mind than anything else.

So plase, don't buy into the false and misleading propoganda a few christian groups have been spreading about "The Goth Culture". 8-P
