I am going to go as a "Cigarette Girl." I wore this costume a few years ago to my TG support group. I decided to wear it again this year because I couldn't find anything new that I liked.
I have to agree with Jeannie. Halloween only comes once a year, so we may as well take advantage of it.
Alana, your GG friend sounds very nice. It is great to have someone supportive like that.

I'm going out Saturday to the Halloween party at Hartigan's. I was trying to get the "Pirate Wench" costume from Torrid, but they only had it online, and I won't be able to get one soon enough. I was able to pick up a few things from Hot Topic and Torrid this afternoon, so I'm thinking of going out as a punk rock chick, with a corset, black fishnet top and black pleather mini.

KENDRA THE CHEERLEADER
Happy "National Crossdressers' Day" (Halloween) to everyone!!
I will, of course, be a cheerleader. I've got several different color schemed outfits, and some are more "period" ('60s) and some more contemporary. Several of the outfits have a political motif but I also have some inspired by my old high school.
I really get a kick out of the cheerleader thing and am actually trying to develop the concept of "hippie cheerleader."
Also-- there was a question or thread here once asking when do you have the most fun while cross dressed.
I must say, as the "cheerleader." That gives me a way to be out in public dressed, and is a way to combine political beliefs with CD-ing. I can interact with other people while in "costume" and that has given me some really interesting experiences, such as...
At the Washington D.C. HIGH HEEL RACE on the 24th (I wore white chunky heel boots) a number of cute young GG's asked to take a photo of me or have their picture taken with me. One even said I was her favorite race participant!!
Yes, people do react well to the "cheerleader." "She" is upbeat, cute, colorful-- now I say-- who wouldn't like that?
(I'm amazed at my biological age that I get away with this at all, but having "great legs" does help...)
HAPPY TRICK OR TREATING!!
Peace'n'Love-- Kendra Lynn.

Today I picked up the finishing pieces of my hippy costume.
Since my last post, my wife and I got two more tops from the Goodwill hunting ground, a long blonde wig from Walmart, a headband (actually a pack of 2) from Walgreens drug store, and from a Party City store, a peace sign medallion and clipon earrings set.
She helped me to decide the proper skirt from 5 candidates (actually 4 but 1 is reversible) and then the best match from 5 tops.
I also bought 2 cases of 50 vending machine sized bags of chips, 1 Cheetos and one Fritos.

Made the party at Fielden's in Richmond. It started out slow, but got quite crowded a couple of hours in.
I wore my maid outfit with my long wig. My first wig, and this was the first time I wore it out. My wife prefers the shorter one.
One lady there asked if I was a guy or gal. One of the CDs asked if it was my real hair.
I left around 3:15 am, and the line to get in was out the door.
On the way out of Richmond I realized it was really 2:30, but I was tired and glad I forgot to set my watch back, as it was 1.5 hr drive home.

Charlotte really needs a place like Fieldens. I got dressed a little early Saturday night, so I could swing by my job and "freak the mundanes" for a bit. I try to minimize my contact with hotel guests when I drop by en femme, but it was next to impossible. I ended up running the phones for awhile. I chatted with some guests who were hanging out in the lobby, and even posed for a couple of photos. Then I headed out to Hartigan's. Someone must've forgotten to advertise their Halloween party, because only 20% or so of the guests were in costume. I was the only TG person there, again! After and hour of getting stared at by the mostly lesbian crowd, I bailed.

Had the BEST Halloween! It's the first time I've ever worn make-up to a party, and one woman actually didn't know I was not a woman until I spoke! And then you should've seen her react! Some women thought I was a woman when they saw me, for maybe a second, but she really was fooled!
I wore my three-inch heels, and I was only able to go two hours in them before I changed to my two-inch heels. I'm such a wimp. I'm not tough enough to be a woman.

Well, ladies, I did it! Spent 4.5 hours en femme tonight at work. Went as a modern brunette woman- black velveteen mini, purple lacy/ruffled blouse, sheer black patterned hose, side-buckle flats, nails, make-up, the works.
I literally turned heads- both customers and co-workers had to take a second look. Received comments from "that's one ugly woman" to "you did good." Some, at first, didn't realize I wasn't a woman. Many of the woman commented favorably on my appearance. A lot of them felt I had better looking legs than many GGs. One little boy couldn't understand why "that woman sounded like a man"; his mother had to explain that I was a man dressed as a woman.
Anyway, business was slow and it wasn't as nerve wracking as I had expected it to be. Had fun! Got teased a lot by some of my co-workers and supervisors. Enjoyed the opportunity to dress and interact with others while dressed. Will post a picture in the photo gallery if I get a copy of the one they took.
Love,
Alana

Congratulations, Alana!! I am sooooo glad that you had an overall great day! There's nothing better than putting on a pretty blouse, skirt, hose, a pair of heels (well, flats in your case
) and jewelry to make your day better, especially at work. It's just unfortunate that you can only have the rare day to go to work 'dressed.' I'm really looking forward to seeing your photo!!

Heh, Amanda and I had a bit of our own fun for Halloween. Glad to hear others had fun on the best holiday ever!
It was the first time I had gone out dressed for Halloween in the same school girl type manner that I did for the first time I ever went out. I'm not sure but I bet it was her first time as a pirate, but then again I never asked.
We attempted a walk at first, but we only got about 50 feet before we gave up due to it being really cold.
Being so cold, what else is there to drink besides... hot chocolate! So we drove over to the local Beaner's Coffee (snicker) and got some hot chocolate. We both went dressed but stuck to the drive through because I figured it would be best to take those baby steps I keep hearing about
.
The guy at the window didn't seem to notice, or if he did he really didnt care which was pretty cool. I decided by next Halloween I am going to acctually go in dressed and hopefully I'll still be up to it by then.
One of the best parts of the night was a certain red light while driving around. We both got hit on by a car of guys as we were sitting there. Sad part was I wasnt even dressed yet but the long hair confuses people easily I've noticed. Amanda swears they were just honking at me cause they wouldnt be able to see her in the driver's seat but I'm not so sure on that one. Good times!

I had a good time at home handing out about 60 bags of Cheetos and Fritos dressed as a hippie chick, greeting them with a peace sign, and when they left wishing them a groovy Halloween.
Most of the trick or treaters had someone along who was old enough to recognize that I was a hippie and got a lot of smiles.
One group of 3 young teens didn't quite figure it out, returning my peace sign with the Vulcan "live long and prosper" sign.
It was fun and I'm probably going to dress next year.

For me it's been a busy couple days.
Friday night I went out to the TGSF Halloween Party (which is also a fundraiser for the group) -- and got to do some semi-drag. Semi because I was wearing my Little Red Riding Hood costume rather than full drag.

Definitely fun, although I definitely could use more practice -- but I still did better than most of the other folks who performed (if I say so myself). I did well enough I was asked if I could perform a second number -- that one wasn't nearly as polished, but at least I did know all the words (generally a good idea when one is lip-synching.
)
Anyway, today my client's company had costume contest planned so I dusted off the costume again and went dressed up to work. On the way to work, I shopped to get my usual coffee and when I placed my order the counter staff did a doubletake -- "That's you?!" Turns out they hadn't recognized me until I heard my voice (which I didn't bother to try to feminize).
Same thing happened at work. More than a couple people said they didn't recognize me at first -- and definitely did a doubletake when they realized what was up. Overall, everyone got a huge kick out it, especially since I was one of the few people who showed up in costume for the day (a lot odf folks just got dressed up for the contest itself). A couple of the women told me they couldn't believe how pretty I was -- which needless to say was extraordinarily pleasing.
Unfortunately, I didn't win. The speculation is that since, voting was done all the employees, people didn't know who I was since I'm a consultant.
Was supposed to go out to a party tonight, but when I stopped for dinner, I ended up getting in a conversation with the people at the next table -- in which I ended up talking how this wasn't the first time I'd put on a dress. We had a such a good conversation, I didn't realize how the time flew until the restaurant was closing up for the night -- at which point I didn't feel like driving up to SF for the party. But all-in-all quite a fun day.
