One Thousand Not Out

As this is my 1000th. post since I joined in January you might get the impression that I have had plenty to say. I have averaged between 4 and 5 posts a day which I admit is a lot but most of it has been in the game zone, I love that area, the girls who frequent it regularly and the occasional passers-by keep me amused during the ‘drab’ times. I’m not one to run away from the serious things in life but I do enjoy a good wind-up. I must apologise for two of my previous posts which were taken seriously though. One when I used a very old ‘Irish’ joke to illustrate how the Americans changed from driving their automobiles on the left to the right, it being so successful that the next week all the trucks and buses did the same….. and the one about not shaving my legs but plucking the hairs out one-a-day so my wife wouldn’t notice it. I’m sorry, but I thought it was funny how they got through under the radar!
The eloquence and depth of knowledge of you girls just takes my breath away whether it is a serious post or witty repost you must be some of the best writers I have ever come across, the time you spend on helping other people who you may only just have met on line shows the care that is out there in these troubled times. I am not one to give advice very often as I have never been very knowledgeable about my “gift” as Virginia so rightly puts it, much of the time it has been a joy to live with but sometimes it has caused so much stress and tension in my life that I wonder what the heck I am doing. With the support of my lovely wife, the help and advice I’ve got from you all and 20mg. of Citalopram per day I have got to a point where I now rarely bite my nails and fingers till they bleed, shamefully I did that for more than 50 years. If ever there was an outward sign of my new found personal stability that is it, and much of that has come from you.
I laugh and cry in equal measures when I read the stories of all you lovely girls here. CD, SO and GG alike and I make a point of welcoming all the new members in my own Titanic way. You all made me so welcome when I came here, I want to thank all of you for that.
Together we are a great family so I shouldn’t single anyone out but I have a special hug for our new chums Curly and Ed (Honor) who went the extra mile and met up with my wife and I, none of us knowing what to expect but all of us finding friendship and support.
If in this world I only had one wish, for personal reasons it would be to find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis but in a lighter vein I would wish to meet more of our family in the future and not just be able to shave my legs on a regular basis!
As for ‘1000 not out’ well over here it is the cricket season, ‘not out’ relating to the fact that I am still hiding behind the curtain waiting for the chance to blossom and grow or to scare the natives depending on their point of view.
Finally thanks to SL and all the moderators who keep this site such a wonderful and safe place to be.
Love and Hugs
Kay
