Halloween 2008
Yes this is early. However I have just ordered what I am going to wear this Halloween. I have finally ordered my first cheerleader outfit. I am going as a werewolf cheerleader. For this I have decided not to shave at all until after Halloween. So how many have thought about their 2008 Halloween costume?

I might hand out treats at home this year as Jackie O'Lantern.
My outfit will likely be the Halloween one I bought for my wife last year at a thrift store for $3.75 US - a denim jumper with Halloween embroidery, orange mock turtleneck long sleeve top with Halloween embroidery on the neck.
I'll probably wear my knee high boots and get a green foil wig. Face makeup will be orange with black jack o'lantern eyes, nose, mouth.
Last year my wife had computer trouble and I didn't get in costume, just gave out treats as myself.
2 years ago I dressed as a hippie chick - I think that picture is still in the gallery.
I might explore other ideas like Cinderella's stepsister or a Southern belle in my floor length purple satin bridesmaid gown.

For some reason, it's a cowgirl outfit this year, if we play the planned San Francisco Halloween bash at the ballpark parking lot. It might be tough finding boots that'll fit. I always admired the cowboys of the 50s--Maverick, Hopalong Cassidy, and Roy Rogers--but I guess there were some imprints from Roy's wife, Dale Evans.

A werewolf cheerleader. I love it! Will it be a male or female werewolf? You know how they can get....
I will probably use my witch costume again, with some added embellishments for this year. I am trying to find a spiderweb cape. Also I am trying to find a costume party I can wear it to.

Non-expensive boots may be hard to find

Werewolf cheerleader?? Definitely want to see photos of that...
LAND OF THE DEAD had a cheerleader zombie, but she was only on screen for about a minute and then had her head knocked off...
Well, it was a zombie movie...
I will probably a cheerleader again-- it's just so much fun. I've got several variations-- one outfit closely resembles how cheerleaders actually looked at my high school in the late 1960's; others have a political flavor.
But the one other thing I'd like to do is vintage SUPERGIRL-- the outfit she had in the early through mid 1960's. Blue dress, belt, red boots, red cape.
Don't know if I'd have to order that or could buy a ready made one.
Of course, the ready made ones can be really cheesy-- poorly made, thin material (and are probably too small).
I hope everyone has a groovy "SAINT CROSSDRESSER'S DAY!" (aka Halloween).
Peace-- Kendra Lynn ("hippie cheerleader").

That's the hardest part to find. Almost anything else about the costume can be generic, stretch fabric, one-size-fits-many.Non-expensive boots may be hard to find
Mind if I borrow the idea?
I don't mind some cowgirl competition. I'm sure Dale won't mind, either.
I'd like to see you as Supergirl, Kendra.

It turns out that our church is going to have a neighborhood party for children up to age 12 the night before Halloween.
There was one last year and my wife wore the embroidered jumper/orange mock turtleneck (no special makeup) and I was a football fan, wearing a Buffalo Bills T shirt and cap, the least dressed-up helper of the group, which included an adult father and daughter as Papa Smuf and Smurfette. They encouraged me to dress up more this year.
My wife said that she might want to wear the jumper/mock top herself, but as I look through the closets I think I have a number of options for costumes that would be suitable for the neighborhood party (modest, not cumbersome). here are a few that come to mind:
With a nod to Anita's idea, cowgirl - I have plain brown knee high boots, a cobalt blue Lila Smith cowgirl dress with fringe and silver lace trim, and a cowgirl hat;
I have a red polka dot dress and an old pair of mouse ears - Minnie Mouse;
Several animal print tops/skirts and cat ears - a cat;
A poodle skirt, but no saddle shoes - 1950's girl;
Long tiered skirts, peasant style tops - gypsy girl/hippie chick.
Please feel free to borrow my ideas if one suits you.
I'm probably going to post here more as I look things over and think of more possibilities and opportunities.

Halloween costume
I am eagerly waiting for an invitation to a party. A friend has this annually. His wife leaked the story that the husband will go as
Julius Caesar this year. That gives me a chance to go as Calpurnia, Caesar's reportedly not-so-lovely wife. It will be my first public wearing (other than a night in New Orleans thirty years ago) en femme.

Female cheerleader werewolf. I got the email saying that it should be delivered on the 9th. I bought a cheerleader outfit from cheerleader.com. Black cheer skirt, a black and white cheerleader shell, and a black nylon bodysuit. To complete the outfit I got to black and silver poms. I will take a pic once it comes in.
