Love those heels (Hi-Heels not Tar Heels)

Scientists from Oxford Brookes University (Oxford, England) surveyed more thatn 100 women ages 50 -70, some with knee pain some with out. The women answered questions about their age when they began wearing high heels, activities they did in them, how long they wore them and the heel height. Study found that not only did high heels NOT increase the likelihood of knee arthritis, BUT it appears that they may in fact help prevent it! So girls, strap on those 4's and go for it!!

Hi Deborah.

I believe there is truth to that, because often when I come home my legs and feet are hurting. I step into a pair of heels and presto they feel better.

On the other hand though after wearing heels for an extended period of time my feet and legs will again begin to hurt. I wonder if it isn't the variety that dose the trick?

It would be interesting to see what the GGs here have to say about this?

Great post Darlene,
or was it Deb? I'm always getting you two mixed up.

Actually that's an interesting thread. I think I need to do some experimenting of my own. Hmm, low heels or high heels...

Hugs,
Kyra

Since we are talking of high heels, how about these?

Yes girls, these are my feet and my shoes.

For reference, the shoe on the left is a 5" heel.

if you are wonddering, the shoes are from "the Hiighest heel" and are a size 12 with a 7 1/4" heel.

I can't really walk in them yet, however I have recently purchased a pair of 6" heels I am working with. Once they are ok to wear, i will move back to the 7" pump.

A good website which discusses some of the issues dealing with
http://www.2heels.com/

specifically:

I have ordered her book and it has helped me with learning how to get used to really tall heels.

Hi Rae,
As much as I love to be "on my toes", I have this mega fear that my first step in a pair of 7" stilhettos would be face first on the floor. An image I can't shake at the moment.
_P Sorry, I'll stick to my 4" pumps for now. Still...they do look really nice!

Kyra

You will notice I never said I could actually walk in these shoes. The truth be know, it may be months before I can take steps that do not make me look like Frankenstien's bride.

The 6" heels are semi OK to walk in . I can at leaset traverse the length of the house in them with a bit of awkwardness.

The real problem with the 7" heels is not the height, but the distance from the heel to the toebox versus my own foot. My foot fits the shoe size correctly, however the heel of my foot to the ball of my foot is a bit shorter than the length in the 7" heel. This means that the ball of my foot is not holding the brunt of the weight, but my toes are. Not s comfortable way to walk. I am working on a method to recolve this with a wedge I can place in the shoe to give my foot more support, however that is kind of cheating as not they may not be true 7" heels anymore :)

Hi Rae,

I hope we didn't offend you. I think we were both just saying, "More power too you!". I also like the look, but just can't imagine wearing them. :)

Thank you for explaining how you walk in them though. :)

No offense taken at all.
I have the shoes for a bit of humor actually. I have no real intention of ever wearing either the 6" or 7" out of the house with the exception of a Tri-Ess meeting where there may be a contest or such, and then i would wear my normal shoes until I needed to use the tall ones.

AS you noted, I was simply pointing out how one learns to walk in them as most people (myself included) would possibly fall face forward while trying. I did not fall, but I felt my self heading that way a few times while trying them out.
