Hi ladies ,

The topic title sounds silly but I have had to consider this question after looking at a photoshoped photo of myself taken some years back , the photo is a combination of two images of myself placed together to look like twin girls.
The photo is titled "TWINS 2004" , this poses the question :
who is Merinda's twin sister?

My next choice "Karen"

This was my original choice of name because if I had been born female then "Karen" would be my real name , however I went with Merinda.

So my question is what would be you next choice of name if you wanted to change your username?

It's something I've never thought about. I've been Angela a lot longer than I've been "him". I think my family would think my mind had started to go if I suddenly announced I wanted to be called something else.

Oh Wow! Uhmmm, Carolynn was the first name on my first birth certificate, changed to HIM when I was about 4 weeks or so old. I was astute enough to ask my mother what my name would have been "if I had been born a girl" and she admitted it would have been Carolynn Mae. The Mae was my father's contribution, as I was expected in January and he thought (incorrectly) he was commemorating a good time he had in May. Just his little assinine joke, ya see. From the age of 7, when I asked the question, I always considered myself as Carolynn, and when I changed my name legally in 2006 I went back to Carolynn. Oddly enough, when I found the old birth certificate in 1995, I at first thought a twin had been born with me that no one had ever told me about. It actually took a few minutes for the truth of the situation to be clear, as I recalled the difficulties I had with urination, and the surgery when I was 5 that "fixed me".

I always liked Christy, Pamela (Pam), Sondra, and Barbara, and was fascinated by an older girl with the hyphenated name Kay-Wren. If I had a twin, I think Christy or Christine would have been a nice name for her.

I've already changed it once......probably a nickname version of my current name.

First name that comes to mind would be Kathy (Kathleen), but I'd probably give it more thought than that, if I had to change.

my second choice would be Linda

Probably, not definitely, maybe... Laure (in French) or Laurel (in English). Don't know why, though. Just always liked the sound of them.

I would go choose Rachel if I choose a different femme name.

One of the first female names I ever liked was Diana. That was even before Stephanie was nary a twinkle in my eye so that would probably be my sentimental choice.

Kim - That is what we called me the first my wife and I went shopping together. I'm Kay now as there were several Kims around when I was on CDDF. Even in male mode I was alternatively called Roger, but that is another story

I always liked the name Elizabeth, and for a while called myself that, or Betty for short. I only chose April Rose as a name when I started posting on this site. But I notice that, While I might have called myself Elizabeth, I didn't really think of myself as Elizabeth. April is apparently a little more me. I have begun to enjoy thinking of myself as April, not just when I am dressed as a woman, but as a feminine man as well.

Maybe Lindsay, I've always liked that name as well, but I'm happy with Jessica

I would probably take the name Rene'. The first book that I read about a trans person was 'Second Serve' by Rene Richards and she explained that Rene' means New Woman

Carolynn, you too felt you had a lost twin? Just reading that sent a chill up my spine, because all I can say is Me too.

I still feel her today ... always have: the certain knowledge of a lost sister who must surely just be around the corner or in a separate room somewhere, trying to find her way to me. I may not think about her for a while, but her absence is always there ... if I may express it so.

Clarification: I was a single birth, nobody ever told me any stories about a twin, etc. etc. So there isn't a foundation in fact for my feeling.

I suppose in some ways my "lost sister" idea fostered me in becoming femme.

Anyway, enough thread drift. To answer Merinda's question, when I came to take a girl name I considered quite a few. Robyn was the plain choice though, because my parents told me they considered naming me Robin but didn't because it might be seen as "too feminine."

(That's what you call being "overdetermined.")

I suppose Katie is my second choice—it became the other part of my name. Top contenders were Barbara, Mara, Laurel, I don't remember them all. I have an odd fondness for the plain old name Ellen, maybe because I've known some really nice Ellens.

But if Robyn and Katie were both taken away, I honestly don't know what I'd call myself, because no other name is nearly as resonant for me.
