Shopping in Williamsburg

Two weeks ago I went to the outlet malls in Williamsburg, Virginia. I decided that I would get a room and change there and that's exactly what I did. I needed new bras and decided that I wanted some other clothes. I walked all around the Prime outlet Mall and no one gave me a second look. Beige sweater with a black v necked top under it, skinny jeans and black knee high boots from JC Penney's. I felt good and thought I looked passable enough.

The Bali outlet at Prime didn't have the size bra I needed so I went to the other Bali outlet in the Williamsburg Mall. The SA, who was from San Francisco, said later that she made me as soon as I opened my mouth. Oh well, I felt "bad" but I had talked to a lot of other people who didn't seem to have a clue so I didn't feel totally bad. Anyway, she helped me find the bras and mentioned that she thought I had implants. That made me feel better. Thanks, Classic Curves Diva!!

I then went to the Dress Barn and the SAs there didn't have a clue and were very helpful. The one that helped me find the dress I ultimately bought thought I could fit in a 14 as opposed to the 16 I had on. I opted not to go down one size and we discussed body image and dresses in general.

I had a blast. The day ended too soon and I had to make my way back home.

That sounds like a great day, Lisa. I like your shopping look. I saw Williamsburg in 1963, but it doesn't sound like you were in the colonial part of it. I doubt that Dolly Madison shopped at Dress Barn.

Lisa, you look terrific. I think you have done a great job at picking clothes to blend in. I like the dress, too.

Thanks ladies!! No it wasn't Colonial Williamsburg, it was outlet Williamsburg, which is just down the road.

Hi Hon,

Glad you had a great time! You should have gone to "Bucky's" spa and got the full treatment too. I am sure he would have been glad to see you. :P

There are some really great shopping places in Williamsburg! I went hunting with the guy that owns the Pottery Factory, once. We all got up before sunrise to head to our stands. It was snowing and cold and many years ago. He got up about 10:00, drove into town, got breakfast, some coffee and about 11:00 we are shivering, and struggleing through 8" of snow heading back to camp empty handed when we hear a shot!

We had no sooner gotten back to camp when he drives up looking like a model stepping out of the LL Bean catalogue ==========with a 10 pointer strapped across the hood of his truck!!! Seems he was driving back to camp when this monster just stepped out in the road in front of him and stood there while he got his Weatherby out and from about 50 yards away - Bang! All he could complain about was that he got some blood on his new boots!!!

OH, you look super, girlfriend!!!

Shopping at the Williamsburg Outlets can be fun (and only an hour away from us), my wife and I go every once in a while. What we really prefer though is once or twice a year we go to the Vanity Fair Outlets in Reading, PA, they make the Vanity Fair Outlet in Williamsburg look like full retail and have 1,000 times the selection (including VF, Vassarette, Lily of France, Bestform, Wrangler and Lee Jeans, Nautica, JanSport, etc.). A good selection of stores in Reading, fantastic prices, and no sales tax on clothing purchases in PA. The perfume outlet store there is awesome, I also shop the Easy Spirit store there and the Danskin outlet is my favorite for tights. You should really try the VF Outlet in Reading sometime.

The dress you found Lisa is great and looks so good on you.

I have been to the outlet malls in Williamsburg, and have found some nice things there too.

I have had great service at both the Haines Outlet stores, and the Dress Barn outlets. If they have read me, the sales associates sure have not shown it.

I am hoping to get down to Chesapeake this coming May or June, and as Usual will make a trip up to Williamsburg again

Great outfits Lisa! I like the ankle boots too, in addition to the dress.

I was in Williamsburg, VA last September while on vacation with the family. My wife and I spent a day at Busch Gardens with the kids and stopped at the Prime Outlets the next day (I was in drab).

I picked up a nice skirt and top from the Anne Taylor store there.

Wished I'd known you were here! :) I live not far away and at the mall I have wondered "what if a nicely dressed woman were to spend day shopping - would she be noticed as she would look so much prettier than other women there?
