Out in Durango

Post by Alana »

I just got back from a business trip to Durango, CO. Such trips are where I do most of my dressing, but haven't traveled much for several years.

Anyway, I spent my two evenings dressed to the hilt. Black with purple floral design knee-length skirt, black ruffled see-thru blouse with a matching camisole, black pantyhose, black knee-high boots with about a 3" heel, wig, full makeup, jewelry, and press-on nails.

When I arrived in Durango, I stopped at a Walgreens, en drab, and purchased a couple of sets of Kiss press-on nails. The cashier said the colors were nice and hoped I would like them.

The first night I went thru a McD's drive thru; got called "Maam" when I received my order. I needed some personal items, so I went to a Walmart and then Albertson's grocery store. I got a few nice comments and apparently was not read. As many of you have said, most people don't really notice such things.

The second night, I dressed the same, tho the jewelry was a little different. Went thru McD's drive thru again and got pretty much the same reaction. I then went to a park and ate. While in the park I took several pictures with my cell phone. Again, no one seemed to notice anything out of the ordinary.

Sent one of the better photos to my daughter and my cousin, who both know of my crossdressing and are somewhat supportive. My daughter was impressed and texted, "Kudos daddy." That was very nice.

Had a couple of problems. I had to glue the nails on, but had to remove them the next morning, because they would have been hard to explain to the wildland firefighters with whom I was meeting. Removing the glued on nails was a bit difficult. I used to use a double stick nail pad, I believe by Cosco, that allowed relatively easy removal. However, I haven't been able to find them lately. Used to get them at RiteAid. Does anyone know if such things are still around and where I might find them? That was the main reason I had stopped at Walgreen's the first day, but they didn't have them.

The other problem was walking in the boots. My left ankle doesn't like that high a heel. Also, my feet were a little swollen and my other high heeled shoes didn't fit right.

With the exception of the walking, or rather limping, in the heels, I enjoyed my time out en femme. It does get easier.

Love,

Alana

Nice to hear you were able to get out.

You might look in the hobby section of places like walmart, for a product called glue dots. Looks like they would work in a pinch for sticking on nails. I believe they have different holding strengths as well.

A product called Museum Gel, or another called Poster Putty, might be useful as well.

Sounds like you had a great time. I have been though some drive throughs and been called m'am before. It is a great feeling. I might try going out to a Mardi Gras parade this weekend as Lee Ann. I do love dressing up....
