Pedicure

I am not sure where this would go because I was not dressed feminine when I got it done. I got my first ever pedicure yesterday! My wife wanted to get her toes redone and found out that one of our friends husband got a pedicure with his wife, so she said I should get one done with her as it would feel nice and a way to bond for us. I quietly jumped at the chance. I had to be in male mode since I am still in the closet.

The adventure was wonderful, I will be doing it again I am sure. I did not get any polish on as I was a bit embarrassed. I would have liked a soft pink or an ivory color but did not get anything this time. My wife did ask about my nails in general, as they tend to break often. The gal doing my feet suggested a clear coat to help protect them. I think we will get some today as it is less busy than yesterday.

I will update when I have more. I tell you the pedicure felt great and I cant wait till the next time. I will inquire about shaping my nails and see what happens

Hugs

Erica, If you are in guy mode and unsure...try a french pedicure next time, still has the "regular" nails look, but much, much cleaner and neater.

I did not know what to expect. My wife suggested it to help relax me and she thought it would be good for me to experience it. I was asked a couple of times, jokingly I think what color polish I wanted, I just wished I had the guts to tell her what I did want. Maybe next time I will.

I was in guy mode one of my first times. I was by myself and I went to the beauty school close to us. I think it was because I had a coupon. Anyway, it was Valentine's Day or the day before. So for fun the fun of it, I asked for a bright red.

The girl thought it was fun. She also said her hubby was her guinea pig so she would put colors on him -- do whatever. Everything was going fine and then the instructor walked over to see how the student was doing. "Tell me that's not red you put on his toes". The student and I both smiled and said it was for Valentine's Day. The instructor smiled then.

Okay, now with Halloween, you got more options I would think. Go for it girls!

My wife and I would go together until I started going en fem. We now go at different times, so as not to embarrass each other. LOL

I go to the podiatrist every 6 weeks, my toe nails manage to grow so long but only paint my toes after I have been and I make sure the nail polish is removed before my next visit. :) :)

It reminds me that I need to go again. I like to go often, once a month about, but haven't been for 6 months or more. I find that if I let my nails get too long it tears up my pantyhose. And there's nothing more annoying than putting a huge run in a brand new pair of pantyhose.

I gave myself a pedicure this morning & polished my toenails with this new OPI polish I bought monday, it is called "Brisbane Bronze" from the OPI Australia collection and it is absolutely gorgeous!

I have tried different bronze and copper colored nail polishes throughout the years and usually have been disappointed, but this is different and I think it would look great on both dark & fair skin-tones.

Check it out and get a bottle, it is that sexy! definitely a nice surprise in the winter to keep a smile on your face when the boots come off as well as thee go-to nail color for next summer!

My wife and I often will go and get our pedicures together. I will even let her select the color I get on my toes. I have even taken my daughter with me as well, and she has chosen my color for me on those occasions. ;) it's a great bonding experience for all three of us.

I've been enjoying monthly pedicures and bi-weekly mani/pedis for years now. The salon knew me as a regular customer and loved to joke about my toenails, "What color you want?". One day I eventually told them "French pedicure" and they gave me a surprised look. I told them I was serious, I was paying the same as everyone else, wanted polish on my nails, and was willing to pay extra for the French.

Other customers in the salon have never flinched or looked when I get them painted red, pink, purple, maroon or French. One very nice woman once complimented my feet, and she was completely serious. I only wish she had been flirting, instead

I always do my own (pedicure) and I think I do a great job, but my toenails are nicely shaped naturally. My last serious girlfriend before I met my wife went to school to be a nail tech and I paid close attention. She studied and practiced at our apartment on her friends and me! I never told her how much I loved it though...did not trust her enough!

One time in 2002 I went to a salon because I wanted a "professional" french pedicure with the white tips they do under the UV light. When I walked in I told the woman at the counter I wanted a french pedicure, she smiled and laughed and repeated it loudly to the girls cutting hair and the nail techs.

Needless to say, I was embarrassed and I said nevermind and left, as I was walking out the door I heard them laughing, but it did not stop me and I am sure that is not the norm, but nonetheless a bad experience and did drive me away from salons.

I told my wife and she felt bad for me, but she said I think you do a great job yourself and you have all the tools and implements you need...I have done a french pedicure a few times through the years, but I just don't get them to look the way I want.

Do any of you get funny looks or comments at salons?
