Quick Funny Shopping Story

Saturday our son was working on a project withhis grandfather so wife and I decided to do a little early Christmas shopping, get some ideas. We went to the local mall, I was dressed in regular guy mode...ball cap, fleece, boot-cut jeans, loafers, but always knee-highs...never socks unless absolutely necessary!

Looked around and walked into Payless, the TG girl's best friend for shoes! Ever notice they put the women's size 10 and up in the same aisle as the men's shoes? YIKES!

Anyway, I found a few pairs of cute shoes I wanted to try on and my wife was in a different aisle looking for herself...I try on a pair of cute peep-toe flats and walk toward the floor mirror and of course there was a guy and his wife/girlfriend right behind me!

I froze for a second and remembered how far I have come and kept my chin up...walked over tried another pair on and bought them both! I still get that little fear every time, but it is getting better.

The best part about Payless is, there is always a young girl to try and help you out. :P

You are right Carol Ann! And 99% of the time they are very nice about us...once or twice I have run into a couple not-so-nice ones.

One time I went into the closest Payless and the girl who is usually there in the daytime was not there, but a middle-aged guy with bleach-blond hair and a fake and bake tan and alot of gold jewelry...I thought whatever, I want a couple pairs of sandals...

I started trying on a few pairs as any normal person would, but I am trying on women's sandals and the guy came down the aisel to offer me assistance and sees me with red polished toenails trying on wedges and his whole demeanor changed! He started hitting on me! I was like Whoa!

I politely picked my two pairs and paid and left! I felt really freaked out! I was dressed in guy mode basically and I felt like how women must feel in bars when lecherous guys hit on them and won't leave them alone! He asked me out for a drink that night, what bars I go to, if I was attached..no thanks!

Well, that's a new one. First time I've heard of an SA, man or woman, hitting on one of us.

I've had a couple of sales assistants come on to me in the past but it has been far more subtle.

If I ever get hit on, I just figured the guy is crazy :) It's got to be a compliment, so don't know why we can't just accept it and happily just say, "no". that's if "no" is your right answer :)

I once went to use the toilets and when I got to the urinal I looked down and realised I was in a skirt and high heels. I had forgotten I was en femme!

I decided that as I was there I might as well get on with it and luckily no one came in until I had finished and just moving away from the urinal. The guy's face was a picture. He doid a double take and then looked at the urinals and looked at me again. I casually washed my hands, glared at him then flounced out!
