december stars

Post by Absaroka »

I went for a spectacular walk in the woods last night. Put on leggings, long flowing but layered black skirt, one of my favorite warm womens sweaters, appropriate undergarments and inserts, and unisex wool socks, gloves and fleece vest.

It was a brilliant December night with the stars shining through the ghostly trees and a wind fluttering my skirt about. Walked for about 45 minutes and came to the edge of a huge field, which I wafted across in the cold winter night wind towards a very large old stone mansion which is now some sort of a museum. It all felt so terribly Gothic

And then back home. Too bad the skirt wasn't quite as warm as I'd hoped it would be with all it's layers.

Also missed a couple steps near the mansion, but still managed to land on my feet at the bottom of the stair. Maybe I really was flying:roll:

The good news, the really excellent news, perhaps the best news of all is that my knees were just fine with all of this including the acrobatics on the stairs. A couple of years ago I didn't think I'd ever be doing this sort of thing again. But next time I'll wait for a night with a full moon so I can see these sorts of things.

That's a nice image--a brilliant December night with the stars shining. I can see you, shimmering along in the cold.

So glad to hear about the knees. Yes, we have to be ready to give up old pursuits as we get older, but it's great that you don't have to do that with walking in the woods.

Nice!

We've a new puppy and I've had to get up in the wee hours to take her out to piddle. Instead of taking my nightgown off, I'd slip on a sweater and a long black velvet prairie skirt over the nightgown. Felt nice to be outside in the yard like that.

Not much help against the night cold, but neither are pants. ;)

Watch your step out there. Wouldn't want an injury making it hard to get home. Especially in the cold. And before dawn.

Wanna warm up that skirt? Try a western petti. It's not full but it has 2 or 3 layers of nylon. Mine do me pretty good even if there is a bit of a breeze.

Thanks for the suggestion Davita. Donna, I'm pretty careful, it's a nice wide path. But whenever I go anywhere not on the road now I bring my cellphone, so the worst I would be expecting is embarrassment

Western petticoats are great! I have two of them. In the winter, with a heavier skirt and hose, they are warm. In the summer, with a light skirt, and no hose, they circulate the air and are really quite cooling.

A 45 minute walk in December is heaven, That is quite a long walk, autumn is such nice time. Petticoats are also wonderful.
