dinner with my cousin

Since I'm in LA these couple weeks, I figured I would meet up with my cousin whom I haven't seen in a couple years. Just now got back from that. Since I last saw her I've gotten my ears pierced, let my hair get pretty long, and decided that I will wear what I please, when I please and make no excuses about it.
Neither have I explicitly told her (or anyone) that I am a crossdresser. I guess they can figure that out by looking. So she was a bit surprised when she saw me. I was wearing women jeans, a turquoise top, and high heeled ankle boots. Her boyfriend was impressed with my earrings, they are very pretty blue dragon flies (which matched my top pretty well), hand carved and painted in Montana from elk antlers. So we talked about that for a couple minutes and then the conversation drifted on to other subjects.
We had a very pleasant time, and I was really gratified to be able to sit comfortably with a close relative, wearing what I liked and not feeling like I had to explain everything. She's pretty crazy herself, so she isn't one to jam her opinion onto somebody, and I knew she really wasn't going to care. So I'm pretty happy right now, I'm at a point where I can wear the clothes I like around the people I like, without pretending something.

The non eventness of it is very cool. Maybe you just seem super unconventional, which of course it seems like you are anyway.

yeah, like Absaroka said, the non-eventness of it was very cool. Maybe because it's LA, maybe just because she is pretty cool with everything anyway, maybe because everyone already knows I'm weird. Anyway, I just can't get over how great it feels to just hang out comfortably wearing whatever I want.

Ralitsa

I (my male half) has spent a lot of time in Southern California and in the places I have been, tolerance was not high on the agenda. I would have loved to introduce people to Susan but in a foreign country 5500 miles from home and on my own, I did not feel it was quite the right time.

I am very happy it went well for you.

That's nice to hear about, Ralistsa. Wearing what you want to wear out into the word feels like finding out that you can fly, and you just didn't know it all this time.
