A day at the mall

Post by Steffie »

Hi girls,

I felt better yesterday than I have in a while (I hope it continues!). It was a beautiful sunny day and I went out to the local mall. I wore a dark purple/brown top, long brown skirt paired with brown boots. Brown is not one of my favorite colors but I thought it would be a good color for fall.

This was my first time out at the mall in ages. In 3 of the stores I went, sales associates came up to me and said hi, even remembering my name! They asked where I had been and I told them I have been sick for most of the last several months. It surprised me that so many people remembered me. I got a lot of compliments on my outfit. :) After a while, my feet started to hurt because of the high heel on the boot. I was near a Payless; so I went in and lo and behold I found a cute pair of brown boots with only a slight heel. I bought them and wore them the rest of the day and had no problems walking. I then got some makeup from Estee Lauder and at another store found a cute dark brown sweater. Notice a color theme here. LOL At the end of the night I had dinner at a Red Lobster and then went home. All in all it was a great day. I hope it is an omen of good things to come. :)

I like that dress Steffie. But it must be warmer down there than it is here in PA, today I'm wearing a sweater over a tunic with one of my Bulgarian Peasant Girl skirts.

I hope it does, too. I like that outfit. I could not get away with wearing boots, I don't think, but they look good on you.

Hi, Steffie -

Brown looks good on you, and I personally prefer the boots with the higher heel (they look better), although the lower heel would definitely be more comfortable to wear on a shopping trip.

I've said this to you before, and I'll say it again now: Of course the sales associates remembered you . . . rarely do GG's take photos of themselves while out shopping or at a restaurant (especially when out alone), so you are automatically drawing attention to yourself. Sorry, but it's true. Take a look around you while at the mall, restaurant, or even in the parking lots. How many GG's do you see taking photos of themselves (specifically, the ones out alone)? The answer: None!!

Looks like you had a great time, and I'm glad you're feeling well enough to have had a day out!!

(Hugs)

Hi SL,

Thanks for compliment.

FYI
They don't allow people to take pics in stores; I learned this from my time back in NJ. So these stores where I was recognized I have never pulled a camera out. Unless I have been the only crossdresser in these stores but in Asheville I would find that hard to believe?

Usually when I take pics it is places in mall where few people are around and I use the timer. The restautant, however, was different where the waitress took the pic. So here yes she would remember me (plus the fact I gave her a good tip. :)

The Silver Lady raises a good point here, if we want top "pass" then we need to do more than look feminine, we have to act like other women. I try to notice how women sit, walk, talk, generally behave, and it is differently to men.

It is no good dressing carefully getting your make up just right and then sitting like a navvy!

Just because you don't believe it, that doesn't mean it's not true
