Road trip

I will be taking a road trip from the Mississippi Gulf Coast to Maryville Tennessee in a few days. I want to drive up en femme but the thing is, my dad is unaware that I dress up en femme, but the rest of the family knows. What I was thinking about doing was once getting in Maryville, i would stop somewhere to change out into my male clothes. I was thinking of a truck stop or maybe an RV park but I am not sure how easy it would be to change at either one. Does anyone have any other suggestions on where I could change. I might be able to change at my brothers house but I want a backup plan in case that does not fall through. I am afraid I will not be able to change at my brothers house either. I really want to be able to drive up as Lee Ann and keep peace in the family.

Oh my that is a tuff one hon. If I remember Tenn. has what that call "rest stops" with no rest rooms and most times people are not stopping. You could pull into one of they but kind of hard dressing in a car

Yes I could do that I suppose. What I may do is make my brother an offer he cannot refuse, a the godfather would say. I have been trying to call him the last few days and have not been able to get in touch with him. I am going to try to call tonight and ask him if I could use his house to change. i will tell him I will give him $25.00 if he will let me do it. If not I will go high as $50.00 (I am sure he would agree to that). It should take me all of 15 minutes to change out. Afterwards I will show up at my parents house and my dad would be none the wiser.

I know there is going to be some issues and I think my dad is going to end up finding out. He is not the type that would go off the deep end and have a fit and disown me. The reason no one has told him yet is that has had some health conditions the last few months. Plus no one is really sure how he would react. I think he might think it strange but be like my mom and say whatever makes me happy but please do not show them. It is a touchy situation and I am trying my best to meet everyone half way in hope they can give me the same consideration, even if I have to pay a little bribe.

Carrol Ann I might take your advice if things do not work out with my brother. I think maybe the bribe money might help grease the way for Lee Ann to drive up to Tennessee. But I think after the offer of money my brother may say "hey, you don't need to do that, if it means that much to you than I am happy to oblige." He is like that.

LeeAnn, if your bother lets you change there great, but if he hesitates go to another plan. IMHO if you have to bribe your brother to change there it is not worth it.

I have changed many times in a vehicle. To make it easier when you get closer, stop at a place with a rest stop / bathroom and change the bottom half into jeans. Then find an out of the the way spot to change the rest. I use the makeup remover wipes for taking care of the makeup. Check and double check the makeup removal. And remember that you are going to have wig hair which is similar to hat hair. So take a hat along if you are a hat person. Other wise a damp wash cloth in a ziplock bag may work.

I have even changed parked along a busy street with cars and people going by. Does test ones creativity so not to expose ones self. Do realize that just because you are at an out of the way place does not mean you are out of sight. More and more places have security cameras.

I've changed in empty parking lots as well as in hotel parking lots. Just park way out where no one wants to park since it is too far for many to walk to the hotel.

I can understand your concerns and have been there many times myself before moving and coming out full time.
one suggestion is wear something on your trip that is basically neutual gendered, and also if going to wear make up wear it very discrimenantly.
As Carol has said i too have changed in the car but that is very hard, and also have changed in rest stops where they have washrooms that are individual from the outside and either gender may use.

My biggest concern was 2 years ago when i was in British Columbia, to see my Cousin an decided to come home state side to see some of your beafutiful country.
At that time my passport and all documentation, was in my other name so naturally was some what concerned when crossing the border

for that trip i wore something that was gender neutual, and also when at the customs and immigration,, took off my wig so i looked some what like the horrible picture on my passport and Drivers licence and it was a non issue.
I must say that while it in not great, the picture of Denise on my passport and drivers licence is much better than the other person.

well if you're willing to pay up to $50 for a place to change, why not just go up the night before and stay at a motel? Or maybe the schedule doesn't allow for that.

Ummm isn't there a mall somewhere near by? Most major department stores have a family restroom; Target, I think, does. Quite simply, they are sexless one people (or mom/dad and kid) potties. Go in fem come out not fem. Just pace the going in or coming out so the same people around don't see the both of you.

My brother refused to let me use his house (I can understand but I a very disappointed). What I am going to do is go to a rest stop and change there. I figure I could either get out and go to a restroom and change from skirt to jeans leaving the blouse on or do a quick change in the car. If I can use the restroom I will take the makeup off and remove the blouse when I get back in the car. I suppose this will keep the family peace.

I hope one day my family will be open to Lee Ann but until then I will have to keep her in the closet. My family is mostly conservative. They tell me that they are happy that I am happy, but refuse to see Lee Ann. It is hard not to be able to be who I am around them. I know that it will take time to get used to the fact that I am part woman.

I ended up dressing in a nice skirt and blouse. The drive was just wonderful with beautiful weather. I listened to music and my cat behaved most of the way. She did meow from home to Montgomery but feel asleep afterwards. I stopped in Birmingham for gas. I had a wonderful drive from there to just outside my parents house. I changed clothes at a rest stop inside my car (a Mustang do not very roomy). It was a pretty funny thing to watch I am sure. There were many cars around and was sort of worried someone would notice, but no problem. I used some wipes to clean my makeup. Got to my parents house and everything was OK.

I am at my parents house now and everyone is having a good time. My dad and I are watching some football and the New Orleans Saints just won. The rest of the family is at Dollywood. I really did not feel like going plus my dad is having stomach issues and I thought I would stay here and keep him company.

Yes I have always been a Saints girl as long as I can remember. My brother is a big 49'ers fan ans when they were in the same division as the Saints it was always interesting around here during football season. Of course back then the Saints were known as the Aints (lol). The only time I ever got mad at the Saints is when Mike Ditka was the coach and drafted Ricky Williams by giving up all the other draft picks. One player does not make a team. Plus good old Ricky did not want to play for the Saints to begin with, who could blame him back then. I hope the Saints can do better next year. I may try and go see them next year. That would be fun.
