A Manicure

I know, I know! Something like this probably should go in the "Fun Stuff While CDing", but I did this in male clothes.

I've been growing my nails off and on for about ten years, ever since I first started dressing in public. Except for a primer given to me by a female friend then, I have always done everything myself. One morning after work, I needed to do some shopping at Super Walmart, so I broke down and treated myself to a basic manicure at the little salon in the front of the store. (I know, you're thinking I must be the poorest little low-rent trannie in the world, going to Walmart, and you're probably right! )

NOTE to self: Never do this after work again! It was wonderful, but I almost fell asleep in the chair. I also committed the awful faux pas of forgetting to tip the technician.

I mention this now because it's been a couple of weeks, and the finish on the nails is starting to look a little ragged, so I'm thinking of going back this weekend for another. I'm also thinking of going to see them later this year for my big "coming out".

If you haven't ever done this before, do it! I always thought of pro nailcare as being too femme to mesh with my public masculine persona, but no one's said one negative thing about it, and I've received no end of compliments about it. In fact, most of my female friends and coworkers Have told me I should go back and get a pedicure as well, saying it's a little bit like heaven.

Hi Jaye ,

I generally have long nails but they sometimes become excessivly long when
I haven't cut them for a while , the middle finger and thumb are a bit wide but the others are shaply .

last year I was frowned on by a female shop assistant , she said , " my god those nails , I know women in this shop that would kill for nails like that ".

Hi Jaye,

Same problem. Never wanted to do it because of the stigma about a male having his nails done. It sounds wonderful. Maybe, one day I'll get the nerve. Probably just about the same time Florida sinks into the ocean!! That would be my luck. No one would get to see them. ..rofl..

There is no shame in pampering ones self... even in boy mode. This is the age of the Metrosexual.
By all means please remember to tip the tech for good service next time.

Hugs,
Wendy

Hi Jaye,

Are you talking acrylic nails and polish? And if so, do you get any extra attention wearing nail polish in boy mode? I very much am interested in doing this and have been thinking about getting a manicure and pedicure. Acrylic nails, the whole nine yards

I just love having nail polish on regardless of if I am dressed or not. Since I have never been dressed in public, I figured this would be a great start. I already wear clear nail polish and have long fingernails. I also have very long and slim fingers that make my hands look very feminine.

Looking forward to your reply

Love always,
Elizabeth

Elizabeth,

I've never done the acrylic thing, though I'd like to, just to see how it goes. Ever since I grew them out the first time, over ten years ago, I've handled my own nail care. I tend to wear (if that's the word) my nails a little long, and I periodically polish them (usually with clear polish, sometimes with boards). I went to the salon in May just to see what it was like to have it done by a professional. It was a very educational experience, and it felt nice to be on the receiving end of some pampering.

I went back last week, and spent money I shouldn't have doing it. I let them trim my nails shorter than normal, though they have grown back out to what I think of as normal length. The experience wasn't as pleasant as the first time. There were only two other people in the salon, but they rushed me through. The first time I dried my hands under this UV thing. This time I was left in front of a little fan and shooed out the door. I DID tip this time, and ended up with a manicure not much nicer than I could have done myself. I think it's time to find another salon.

I've experimented with colors in male clothing, and it's never been well-received. The closest I've come to getting away with it at work is clear with a pearlescent finish. On the other hand, people always complement me on the way I maintain my hands. Women are sometimes jealous of the length I get without acrylics (I grew them out to 1" once).

As for the manicure/pedicure, DO IT! You'll love it!

Hugs,
Jaye

My wife of all people wanted me to go with her to get her nails done. I don't know about everyone else but I usually find this rather boring. This time she wanted me to get a manicure that went to a pedicure and then to eye brow waxing! My wife if very anti dressing but now is pushing these things? Well I'll ride the wave for now may be that is a sign of good things to come.

Loven it :)
