public dressing
I went out today dressed en femme, I wore a dark blue denim mini skirt, tan hose with black over the knee socks, black peasant blouse, black and silver choker and my black high top chuck taylors, no make up and I never wear a wig i'm bald. I went to the drug store, dollar store and the supermarket. no one says a thing about the way i'm dressed. I love going out dressed. I do get some double takes tho.

Re: public dressing
I'm with Carol Ann, most of the time. If I'm going out shopping or just a day out, it's full makeup and wig. But I stopped at the wig store yesterday at lunch and wore my girly flats and my stocking feet are readily visible. The ladies at the wig store have come to know me, so I decided I could let them know it's me when I shop there. They were taken back the first time I bought a wig, but warmed up to me very quickly. I love going out while dressed!
Not sure where I'm going, but there's no since being late

Re: public dressing
Good job Majella. I do those type of looks also sometimes when away from home. But I still have some hair left up there but in a short guy style. That is actually my preferred way to go out enfemme. For me it is a true representation of who I am, a guy who likes femme clothes some times.

Sounds like you had a good day. I must say....YOU'RE BRAVE! While I may underdress, the boldest I get is to not wear socks. And that's at my SO's encouragement and saying it's o.k. I would NEVER have the courage to do what you did. I find that people notice more than we think, and I think it greatly increases the odds for a negative confrontation.

I used to only underdress, but dressing all the way is so much better. I don't do the wig thing, my head is shaved bald, I wear a little makeup sometimes. I don't try to pass, when you see me there is no mistake that I am a man in women's clothes. thanks for the brave comment, it does take balls to step out dressed, sometimes I get a little nervous depending on where I am going. I get a lot of compliments from cashiers on my legs and shoes. I have only had one rude comment and that was yelled at me from a passing pick up truck, the driver yelled "Queer" at me. it did hurt my feelings a bit, first of all I'm not queer, unless he meant I was just odd.

Re: public dressing
Ouch! I've had that response too...and anything else rude and/or derogatory you can think of. Usually it's when I've been noticed/read, and its usually by jerks and punks. Sometimes older adults too...that always surprises me, but I guess it shouldn't.
As I mentioned before, I usually underdress depending on what we're doing etc. At a particular pub that we had been wanting to try, the server noticed that I was wearing hose (jeans, nude hose, and deck shoes...). On her way back to check on us after she brought us drinks, I saw her eyes go there along with the puzzled/curious expression on her face. Usually when this happens, nothing is ever said. However, this time, when my wife went to the bathroom, the manager came over and said we'd have to leave...they don't serve my "type" there. ???!
I almost spit my beer in his face! I was going to make an issue, but decided to leave quietly instead. I just told my wife that there was some troublesome customers on the other side and that we should probably leave so we don't get caught up. At least the drinks were on the house.
I guess after enough negative experiences, I've become a little more reserved. God bless you for your boldness and bravery!

wow that was way rude. I have gotten some "looks" but never had anything like that. When me and the wife go out to a bar or club I usually dress in male mode, sometimes I wear a little of both, don't want to attract too much attention, but my nails are always painted and toes too.

For those who go out dressed completely dressed up I take my hat off too you. Sadly there are always going to be a few narrow minded bigots who shall at times be downright nasty. It is a case of some people are frightened by what they don't understand and react in a hostile manner.

Re: public dressing
I had a Dr's appointment today. I wore by bright blue yoga pants with a light blue mens dress shirt. I have really long hair, it comes down to my bootie and I wore a white hair band that let me wear my hair down but kept it out of my face. From the waist down you'd swear that was a woman but from the waist up, except for the hair, that was a man. And I forgot to shave my face this morning so... I was happy and comfortable.
As I was leaving, walking down a long hallway, there were two men, both in suit and tie coming towards me. One of them looked me up and down and had a scowl on his face. I looked him in his eyes and smiled real big and nodded hello to him and just kept on walking. With my head held high. No more shame about who I am or how I choose to dress.
And because of my new attitude I am on
