I gotta watch myself while around dad

Hey everyone!

I thought I would share a funny story from this past weekend with everyone.

My dad knows about me but per his decision we don't talk about it and I respect that completely. Well this past weekend we had gone to a flea market and I was as redneck as you could get and tshirt, tight jeans, thick belt and black cowboy boots . Keep in mind that normally when I'm wearing heels it's to match a fabulous skirt or dress. Well I walked past dad to look at something I saw at a booth. Dad walked up to me and suddenly blurts out "why are you walking like a little B^&ch?" I thought for a second and realized what had happened and started laughing and said "We don't talk about that Dad, remember?" He just shook his head and asked me to wear sneakers next time we went anywhere together. I agreed.

Hugs,
Stef

Stef!

Ti's a fabulous life we live. :) It is nice that he a least accepts you, sadly though not for who you are.

Hi all,

Stef,

All I can say is "Ouch!" You and I are in the same boat, girl. My dad knows this side of me (and has actually met--or, rather, been confronted with--Christina) but wants none of it. Although I walk proud and free amongst my friends and most of my family (whether in boy mode or as Christina), I'm indeed very "Ginger" when I walk around my father. Part of me doesn't want to step on his toes and part of me wants to scream, "hey! this is me! I'm your child; look at me!" and then crush his big toe with my stiletto heel. :P

Press on, Stef, press on. Perhaps our paternals will mellow with age, eh?

Love,
CJ

Father's Day is coming up soon! As a Dad of two great kids, I always want what is best for them, whether or not my son wears high heels ( he does not as far as I know) or my daughter can survive my two grandsons. God bless 'em
Love to all the Great Dads out there.

Hi Stef,

It's the pits that he can't acknowledge someone as beautiful as you are. I would be proud to have my son look like you no matter how he dressed. (He really doesn't look bad as he is!) At least he acknowledges you. That's more than mine ever did. We never ever had a conversation about my dressing. He left that up to my mother to yell about. ..OO.. rotf ..rofl.. rotf ..rofl..

I'm reminded of a cartoon I once saw in a magazine. It showed a man wearing a dress (CD only from the neck down, so the reader could be sure he was male). To the man's right, a young boy, similarly dressed. To the man's left, a closetful of women's clothing. The caption: "Someday, son, all this will be yours."

I never wold have thought that I could even come close to letting my dad know of Lorna, but he was suprisingly accepting!

Thanks Lorna!! It's great that he was accepting. I love your new avatar as well! HUGS! Welcome back!

that's so true Celia!

LOL JoAnn

I remember that one Barbara, too funny!

Thanks Josey, I have gotten all I expect from those around me. I only expect them to tolerate me. They don't have to accept or embrace my femme side but they do have to tolerate it.

I agree completely Deborah! I only want what is best for my son as well.

Thanks CJ! Dad almost came face to face with my femme side one night. I was just about to walk out the door and I heard a knock. If I don't know anyone is coming over I don't answer the door, as soon as the knocking stopped my phone rang and it was Dad on his cell telling me to answer the door. I told him I would if he thought he could handle it, he said what do you mean and I said "You know that thing we don't talk about" he said never mind and to come by his house the next day. LOL it was too funny. He has no real problem with it, he just doesn't want to see it or talk about it.

Tell me about it Hayley! LOL

Darlene, my dad are very close and I am fine with things just the way they are between us.

Hugs,
Stef

Stef,

That is such a funny story. I just can't imagine you as a redneck dude, you are so pretty as stef. But Growing up in wyoming, and spending siginificant time in both Texas, and Tennesee. I think Wyoming, Texas, and Tennesse might be the three biggest redneck states there are. I must admit that I have had my share of Nacona's and Stetsons. BTW a cowboy in wyoming taught me how to shape hats with the steam of a tea kettle. I also spent my fair share of time at "Dance Town" in Houston, a country music dance hall that was an ice house too. Cheap beer, and lots of pretty girls in tight jeans and boots.

Ironically I think I would be more embarrassed to have everyone see me in cowboy boots and hat, than heels and a dress. Laff, anyway you didn't say that you strolled to the booth with a little bit of girl swagger, but I assumed you did. I think that is great. I think that means you are really being yourself, all the time, no matter what you are wearing.
Love always,
Elizabeth

Hi Stef,

That was a VERY funny story!! LOL!!

It sounds like something my dad would say, "To my siblings about me!" rotf. He tends to let me live as I want and knows that I'm a bit "off" :)

Thanks for sharing that and Lorna's right. I think that's a gorgeous picture sis! :)
