A friend of mine sent a link to a very interesting article that is quite amusing and yet made me see red that some people can be so narrow minded.

Interesting indeed!

Yes, I can see why you saw red while reading that. But, I'm not the least bit surprised that such a "coalition" would exist.
On the other hand, did you happen to read Mike's June 3rd column, "President will not tolerate this aggressive weather"
http://ydr.com/story/mike/27477/ ?
If he can write that, one must speculate on the authenticity of the content of the other.

The group behind this is a scary one. Reverend Louis Sheldon is founder and president of the Traditional Values Coalition, which he founded in 1980. If you want know more about the real values of this “Christian” organization, see their special report,
A Gender Identity Disorder Goes Mainstream. Louis Sheldon’s steady torent of hatred, I should add, is
not limited to the transgendered, but also includes various religious, ethnic, and racial groups.
In this regard, it is interesting that the article upon which the one you cited is based (see
Parents Beware: 'Shrek 2') has an illustration showing a man hanging his feminine garments on a clothesline to dry, presumably after washing them. Wanting to make this man seem especially blameworthy, and catering to the Traditional Values Coalition’s not-too-subtle prejudices, the man hanging up his feminine garments is African-American.
I am sorry, Reverend Sheldon, but
my values are based on the American Declaration of Independence, the American Constitution, and an understanding of the great religious traditions that differs greatly from your perversions of those traditions. In the America to which I regularly pledge my allegiance, we have been endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Hi Stef,
It is people like this who make it easier for others to see the injustice in what is happing. We can use them and what they say to our benefit, just as Jamie Ann has done in her post.
Hope that helps reduce the level of your temperature, We need people like that, let us use them wisely?

You know this world is getting to wear we have to not watch the movie for the movie put that it apart to see what might be meant by everything in it. No matter is out of text or not. What is this world coming too. Gelinda.

I just read through "A Gender Identity Disorder Goes Mainstream" and, based on the information reported, it would appear that we are winning the war. This is an act of desparation to attempt to motivate the "moral minority".

I agree with Darlene's statement. These people do more to further our cause every time they open their mouths and prove to the world just how biggoted they really are.

Indeed Stef! People can be so uptight, so narrow minded... in other words... morons.
We all grew up with Bugs Bunny cartoons. Bugs Bunny used to prance around en femme half the time, tricking Elmer Fudd. No way could Bugs Bunny be put on the air today without triggering imbecilles like Mike Argento, whining about "family values" and what have you!
Clearly those uptight idiots have nothing better to do. What a world we live in.

Stef,
You know it is hard for me to get angry at these people any more. I mean most of them have been brainwashed since birth that if you violate any social codes they will immeadiately go to hell. They are desparate to find others like themselves so they won't have so much self doubt about denying every animalistic instinct they have, from overeating to sexual identity and everything inbetween. So in this search if you are not one of them, they are offended. There are just a certain percentage of people who are looking to be offended. They spend all day, everyday telling someone about everything that offended them. So they can show how perfect they are. Cuz? You more you are offended, the better you must be. So it is a self serving task. They are the same people who are listening to rock and roll records backwards for subliminal messages.
But, yeah it used to really annoy me.
Love always
Elizabeth

He obviously has a major obsession with his beliefs and it is he who is the one with the agenda trying to influence others , not us or any other group.
A major obsession it actually a mental illness .

HI Stef,
Reading about this coalition, I feel their founder must be one of my red neck neighbors. Attitudes like his cause me to have to be so careful about who knows about Josey. People around here who are different have been known to disappear!!!
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting the link Stef.

It was a true re-cap of the transgendered references in the movie.

Hi all,
My agenda (and my definition of family values): respect, tolerance for difference, compassion, helpfulness, empathy, moral support, integrity, unconditional love, civic-mindedness, honesty, faithfulness (to both people and ideals), and the promotion of a caring environment for children to flourish in, regardless of the actual constitution of that environment.
Love,
CJ
