I have been trying to find a pair of red pumps and have been stopping at payless and I said that they are for me and the SA has been very nice about it but they have not had the shoes in stock yet but she told me I can order them and they will come to the store. So that is what I am going to do.
The SA have been very nice and helpful. Just tell them its for you and they will be very helpfull

Ramona that has been my experience with Payless also. They have been very helpful. Sometime surprised, but still helpful.
On time I wash shopping for a pair of boots to go along with my victorian outfit. I told the one SA what I was looking for and it was not long and they were both looking for boots for me to try on. I think they were having as much fun as I was. I will give them a two thumbs up for service.

In my experience with Payless - you can ask them to check stock in other stores, and if they find what you're looking for they'll print out a receipt that will give you 20% off your purchase if you buy the item where they found it for you...

I was in a Payless yesterday. Although there was an impressive selection of shoes in larger sizes, nothing really screamed "buy me!" The young female SA seemed willing to help, but I was just browsing.

Last summer I was in a Payless store in Colorado and the clerk told me that I could order shoes online and if they didn't fit I could return them at a store. I haven't tried do that given that while I did find a some flats there that fit they don't list shoes in my size and I have been reluctant to try it but they do have some boots I would like to have so I might try that.

Payless is not the best place to get most comfortable shoes but
the sizes are large enough to fit (11 , 12 ,13)

Our local and small Payless store has a bigger selection of large woman's shoes and boots than the bigger store a few miles away. For the very timid, and those that can't accept home deliveries, I believe you can catalog order and use the store as the shipping address. This saves you shipping costs as the order comes with their regular inventory stock. Returns are also fairly easy through the store. The husband has bought shoes and tried them on at home, just don't get silly and try on and return multiple shoes in one day.

I haven't bought all that many shoes, but my (admittedly limited) experiences in Payless have been uniformly positive.

Yeah, I liked payless earlier on because men's shoes in my size were matched with the same size women's shoes at my back when I felt comfortable turning around, the shoes though are usually of man made materials which means I store them in their box to keep them from being scuffed up, once scuffed you can only buff up and shine leather...bummer. Also their shoes are indeed very inexpensive...so I may purchase some femm booties from them to go with some straight leg jeans...

Now I just go right in and look and tell the SA the same... but I have moved on and have purchased better quality shoes online and most nice looking, stylish and desirable shoes just do not seem to be stocked for size 12M...hence...online saves a whole bunch of time and disappointment, I can rapidly find the kind of shoes I want in the size I want and in a desirable price range and they arrive within a few days to a week or so at the outset. Seriously I still do have some problem entering a huge shoe store with women's and men's shoes on opposite sides of the store and that are rather wide open so there is no real hiding and I find...that still gives me a case of nerves to be so brazenly open when there are twenty or thirty strangers ambling about and I am the lone very openly gender fluid person sticking out like a sore thumb in the midst of them and with an equal chance of being helped by a male SA....well I should suck it up and have more fortitude! dang it!

Anne, no need to feel anxiety about shopping for either side of yourself regardless of the gender of the SA. As it has been stated here many times the stores are there to take your money and frankly they could care less what you buy just as long as you buy. Sure they may be a few exceptions as even in today's society prejudices still exist but if you feel uncomfortable just leave or ask for a different SA. In reality even in more upscale stores they have cut staff so much that finding an SA to help you is becoming more difficult. About the only store I have been in recently that had a vast array of SA's was a furniture store and to be honest I find those types annoying. Granted most of them are on commission but just introduce yourself and go away. If and when I am ready I will find you, don't tail me around like a 3 year old!

I buy all of my heels at payless. They are not the most comfortable but it is hard to beat the price and the SA's have always been great!

Personally I won't buy a pair of shoes regardless of price if they do not fit right. I know they can be a touch more but DSW, Ross, and even TJ Maxx offer a wide selection of high quality shoes at very prices. I just bought a pair of brown leather riding boots at Ross for $39. Granted 11 is about as large as Ross and TJ Maxx go but I have seen 12's in many styles at DSW.
