Bad experiences in public

Most of the posts I read on crossdressers' bulletin boards are about the fun people have trying to pass in public and the thrill when they succeed or when a woman spots their panties, etc., under their male clothing.

But doesn't anyone ever have seriously negative experiences? Run-ins with the police or store security? Threats or worse from men who feel threatened by crossdressers? Major public embarassment at being "read?"

I think we should hear of those too.

Hi Bob,

I think the reason most experiences are positive is due the common sense approach most take when going out. Most CDrs take great care to avoid the places where such confrontations may occur. They also try to stick to public places where people might think twice before starting something.

We also have to keep in mind that most law enforcement officers receive training in how to be non-judgemental. This also applies to many in-store security personnel. If you are breaking no laws then there is no reason for a confrontation.

I'm not saying that these things don't happen, just not as often as one might expect.

Hi all,

Bob (pleased to meet you, by the way! 8) ),

Yes, I have had some bad experiences (probably, many of us have). I was assaulted by a trio of drunkards some years ago. I was once also picked up by a police cruiser as I was walking on the sidewalk (the officers were nice, though; after getting a handle on my identity, they just drove me home--it was basically a non-event, I guess).

Why do you ask, Bob? Have you ever had such run-ins with trouble?

Love,
CJ

I can't say I've really had one other than the odd comment as I passed someone and I have been giggled at a few times. Going to respectable places and avoiding trouble spots with groups of youths is just common sense. I have found that day time is much easier since most people seem to be focused on other things rather than who walks past them. As for store clerks most have been cheerful, after all, they need the money!

Hi Bob,
As you can see, most of us who go out do so after usually careful planning and thinking about what we are doing and how we should dress or where we are going. Yes, most of us have have some "close calls," but that is one of the things that we share here is how to avoid those situations or if in them how to handle them. My one bit of advise is do your best to stay away from groups of 2 or more teenage girls!
Love,
Deborah

on the other hand, think of it as a challenge -- you want to pass the 2 teenage girl test!

The day you can pass a bunch of teenage girls without them noticing is the day you've achieved perfection!

So instead of worrying if you're gonna be "outed" when you see people, make it a challenge to put on your best perfomance and see if you can pull it off. If it fails, no matter, try again until you've got the moves down pat.

ps: perhaps pretending to talk into a cell phone will make things easier so you can have a reason for staring off into space and ignoring everybody.

No one's been hasseled by the police? Are all the anti-crossdressing ordinances no longer enforced?

While there were a few anti-crossdressing ordinances passed in some cities, I don't believe it ever became a widespread thing. And, most of the ones that were passed got overturned by the courts as discriminatory.

To my knowledge, and I am admitedly no expert on the subject, none of the 50 US states has any law against crossdressing.

Some states and cities have ordinances prohibiting people from using the bathroom designated for the opposite sex.

Minneapolis has this on the books, but one person is trying to change that.

In New Jersey a crossdresser was arrested for lewdness for using the women's restroom while crossdressed.

Tecate, Mexico has an anti-crossdressing statute:

These statutes are not always enforced but they are on the books in some places.
