The wife is out with a friend leaving me and the daughter at home.
I decided to experiment a little with makeup and nail polish. I posted a pic in the gallery and the pic doesn't look as good as I think I do right now. I don't think I did a great job but it's a start. I'm digging the nail polish and every time I see the red on my fingers it's kind of exciting. It's gonna be a shame to remove it but it is what its is.
My daughter also had me make her over and it was harder to put the lipstick on her than it was me. She looks like a clown. It's mostly faded though.
Well, we all have a face
That we hide away forever
And we take them out
And show ourselves when everyone has gone
You are looking very nice in your gallery pic and your avatar, Stephanie!
Sounds like you were having a fun time experimenting, good for you! Yes, the worst part is having to take it all off... but just means you get to do it all over again!
I made a comment on the photo gallery regarding make up for a "photo session". Many cd/tg folks and quite a few gg's tend to wear foundation which is too light for their skin tone. Add a flash in a photo session and that is why many photos will show people with an unnatural pale coloring...
That is part of the whole when it comes to doing makeup... it matters what it is for. Great, awesome makeup for staying at home may look, well, not so awesome under natural light. Been there, did that more than once.
Lucky thing is that makeup practice is usually fun... and you know what they replied to somebody asking "How do I get to the Carnegie Hall?" - Practice, practice and more practice!
Thanks Gaby.
The foundation that I have is what we bought for a costume so it was intentionally pale.
I know have a long ways to go with this skill. Learning is part of the fun.
One challenge I have is, the left side of my face has limited movement, so if I smile open mouthed it looks creepy. A few years back out of nowhere I got what I thought was an ear infection. Went to the doctor and he put me on antibiotics. That night while brushing my teeth I couldn't swish without water spraying everywhere, by morning the left side of my face was pretty much paralyzed, they said it was Bell's Palsy and 90% of people with it get all movement back, well lucky me, I'm the 10% where only some of it came back.

I guess its true... you learn something new everyday!
Oh yes Lexi! It is really important to have a good mirror with good "natural-like" light for your makeup, in particular if you are dressing to go out. Flourescent light is our enemy in this regard...
Other than the "less is more" makeup mantra, I believe that you have really made great progress in the art of makeup when you can be wearing at least the basics and you really can't tell that you have it on, if not for how you can tell it changes subtle things about your face/facial structure.
Yes it is important to match the foundation to your skin tone so it does not look too light or too dark. I have seen GG's that were very pale looking due to the makeup. And i have seen gals that had dark face foundation with the rest of their body a lot lighter. When I started using my current foundation the SA ran several of the colors on my jaw line to check for the best match. Yes I was in male mode and when done she wiped it off. She got a good match.
Also something to think about, if you CD at different times of the year you may need different colors of foundation. Mid to end of summer I usually wear a darker shade of foundation as I tan quickly and easily just being out and about in the summer.

All of a sudden, I feel the urge to buy a makeup mirror! I bought one for my SO a few years ago because she would complain how bad the lighting was in the bathroom in her old apartment. I don't think I have the same problem... BUT, the great thing about a makeup mirror is that you can adjust the light to the time of day: daytime, evening... I think there may also be a light setting for office, though I doubt very much that I'd ever need to use that one, LOL!
So... I guess this can be another option for Stephanie or any other girls wanting to experiment or hoping to perfect their makeup skills!
You know...I thought you were a different Stephanie! With your new avitar picture...but it is just you with make up!
Yeah Make up is powerful and it does make a huge difference. There is really no mystery about it all. You find a matching foundation and concealer...shave close as you can, apply concealer I use it over my upper lip and chin then apply foundation from there the rest is not really difficult at all. It can be as complicated and as time consuming as you want to make it but in the end brows...eye make up and lips in all of 10 minutes then fluffing and arranging your hair add some ear rings and I find it is the difference between looking like a guy and a woman...it is the single most important thing we can do. Once you begin to wear make up you will never again feel quite right when you dress without it. Congratulations Stephanie.
How so? If you need to thin the brows a little from underneath and from the iris out some or to groom them that can be done and no one would even know when you are in guy mode as long as you do not make them too thin or angular... pull or trim the wild hairs...Don't forget nose hair which if trimmed again no one is going to notice in guy mode they will just think you look like a nice well groomed guy.
If I was worried about it I would not do it but I do it and am not worried at all.
Stephanie many hair stylist will also trim your eye brows if you ask them to. So let the pro do it then you do not have to.
