Welcome to Atlanta!

Dear Sisters,
Others have mentioned this before, but I think it is worth repeating. The Southern Comfort Conference (link:
Southern Comfort Conference) will be held in Atlanta in a few weeks. For those who are hesitant to get “out & about” much, this is an excellent opportunity to do so. There are plenty of activities for novices (as well as for the bolder veterans among us), and there will be enough CDs in attendance to essentially rule out any harrassment or danger. If I am not mistaken, last year the attendance was about 200 in the early part of the week, up to about 350 by Friday, and about 450 on Saturday. It is headquartered at the Sheraton Hotel, whose management is CD-friendly. Besides lunches and dinners in a large, rather pleasant dining room, there are numerous seminars and organized activities. Finally, unless you happen to live in Atlanta, you are far from the prying eyes of work associates, neighbors, and anyone else from whom you might wish to shield your love of CDing. (Let’s remember now, old Mabel Looselips down the block, bless her heart,
does like to gossip, and if she saw a familiar face with some unfamiliar clothing ... well, you get the picture!)
A Sampling of the Seminars:
- Wig Selection, Styling, & Maintenance
- History & Traditions of Transgenders
- Research in Transgender Health
- Coming Out to Friends & Family
- Crossdresser Tips & Tricks
- Top 10 Mistakes Crossdressers Make

- Makeup 101

- Transgender Image in Mass Media
- Makeup 201

- Relationship Issues
- Book Signings (Helen Boyd et al.)
- The Wilderness of Intimacy

- Feminine & Sensual Movement
A Sampling of the Organized Activities:
- Cookout in the Park
- Shopping Trip
- Newcomers’ Reception
- Thursday Night Pajama Party
- Pool Party
- Talent Show
- Night Clubbing: “Lebuzz”

- Banquet: “Hollywood Nights”
- Dancing in the Main Ball Room
I should add that I have no connection whatsoever with the Southern Comfort Conference. In writing this message, I am giving an unsolicited testimonial for a get-together I have attended twice before, and that I have found well worth the cost and effort. Click the link I gave in the first paragraph above if you are curious and would like to learn more.

I am sooooo excited about going!!!!! I spent almost a whole day last week trying on and laying out my various wardrobes. I will drive down from Virginia, I am just not sure which day, but if it is Wednesday, I intend to offer my services as a volunteer (the lettter I got back said that Registration would be the place to start so..... look for Deborah!)
Love ya and I hope more than four of our sisters here will attend. WE could have, like a class reunion or something.

Jamie Ann ,thats a great summary of the events going on at this years SCC !
Its hard to believe that I have been in Atlanta since 1978 and just found out about SCC in 2002 !!!!! Not sure how many years its been going on, but I know I missed a lot of chances to meet others and have a safe place to get out and unwind.
Last year was my first time attending and it was awsome !! I also recomend it to anyone that is looking for a safe enviroment to make their debut !!
I live about 10 minuits from the club LeBuzz and havnt been there yet either !! Guess I have just lead a shelterd life :-))))
Deborah,, cant wait to see you there also,, and you may want to do what seems the norm.. just bring everything :-)) I know I will!
Hugs
Cindy

Just type in Southern Comfort Conference. They have begun posting the actual seminars that will be taking place as well, looks like fun and educational. They also mention that they will allow individuals to hold "unscheduled seminars" with little advanced notice - those whould be interesting!
Hope you can make it!

Hi Deborah,
I hope that some of the participants in this forum can get together at SCC. Pardon me for my slow response — I have been out of town and away from my computer for a while. At SCC, the main dining room has about 60 tables, each accommodating about 8 persons. It would be nice if we could have groups from this forum who could sit together at a table. For a newcomer, the alternative is to sit with total strangers. While extroverts may not see that as a problem, I think many of us might prefer to see each other face-to-face, and to have friendly sisters with whom to eat lunch or dinner. This is a fantastic conference, but I certainly would welcome the chance to have the support of other members of this forum.

Hi, ladies!
When is everyone planning to arrive? I'm arriving Wednesday night. As far as activities, I've reserved a spot at the Picnic/BBQ on Thursday and the shopping trip Thursday afternoon. Anyone else signed up for these? Needless to say, I can't wait!
Take care,
Angie

Hi Jamie Ann,
I may have overlooked it, but I think you forgot to mention...
Agatha's Dinner Theatre
Agatha's has become a tradition at SCC. We begin the conference with a 5 course dinner and mystery where the audience participates with the actors. So come on out and this could be your chance to star in a week of stardom.
Hugs,
Wendy
