After reading I did it post I thought I would my did it. I after long thinking about about for long perods of time shaved off the hair from my chest all the way down to just under my naivel (why do they call that any way) any way it took some time at first I jsut worked on the upper part of chest which can get itchy do it growing back so fast (just like my face) but one I finally got all the way down I realized I have got to get into better shape (that gut I always thought I had under contol) is getting in the way sort of.

Hi Jessie,
I find it such a great feeling when I get rid of all the hair, and yes it does expose the gut when it needs some work on it
The navel, .....Hmm...let me see.....
Ah yes
It is either a place for parking battleships or it's named after an orange
Oh, by the way, I noticed you have been on the forum a year today, happy forum birthday

Hi all,
Jessie,
The word "navel" comes from the Old English
nafu (pronounced "nave"), itself derived from the root word,
nohb, meaning the central part of the hub of a wheel, the "knob" obviously. So, your navel is your knob, that place that sits in the very center of your body, and from which everything else radiates. The Greeks used to believe that was where the mind could be found, not in our head, as we do today (obviously, they must've modeled their thinking on Howard Stern, whose mind truly does sit in his "knob"

).
By the way, about the gut issue: t'aint nothing a good Merry Widow couldn't fix right up!

Good luck on getting fit, Jess!
Love,
CJ

Jessie,
Congrats!
Personally, I've come to absolutely love the feeling of being completely shaved! Also, I haven't found the itch on the chest to be too bad, but my crotch!!! That's why I have to do it almost daily!
Navel and uses thereof

I was alway told the navel was for holding salt when you were naked in bed eating carrot and celery sticks.
Are there other uses?

I know what you mean about the hair! Although I'm naturally blonde and the hair is fair enough to not be a big problem, I've come to enjoy and appreciate shaving my chest and crotch. Yes, you have to do it regularly, but I've also noticed the more you do it, you get use to it and don't itch nearly as much.
I've not been brave enough to shave the arms and legs yet, so I may save those until I go out into public en femme.

Jesse, I have had that problem too. I quit using shaving cream and went to hair conditioner, that cuts down on the bumps quite a bit and I also use a lot of moisturizer after shaving. Do you have that problem just on your chest? I have also had problems with bumps on my face, razor burn? I am not sure. When it happens on my face I dissolve two asprins in a little water and put it on my face , the bumps are gone in about 15 minutes. I have never tried that on any other parts though......kristen

Silky smooth legs are a wonderful feeling, but what
is the best way to get that silky smooth feeling?
For me? Shaving gave a wonderful finish for a day, tops. I'd need to shave every day and I just don't have the time. Veet or Nair I found fine for my lower legs but tended to irritate my skin above the knee. Waxing? Well, ouch! Plus awkward to do backs of legs and much above the knee is a no-go area.
So I bit the bullet and bought an epilator. Recommended on CDDF, good reviews on Amazon, I was still nervous

I was pleasantly surprised -
On the first day I did my lower legs to just above the knee. Front of lower leg didn't hurt at all, I was a bit nervous of doing the backs but that was ok too. Not pain, more an "interesting" feeling. Odd but not unpleasant. It started to hurt a bit around the knees but I quickly got used to the feeeling ... very scared of doing the backs of knees for some reason - tip keep the leg straight - but also ok.
Day two I did tops of legs. The occasional "ouch!" but nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. Feeling confident I continued on to epilate my chest. That was the worst part for pain, especially closer to the neck, but still bearable.
Reactions? Legs had the "plucked-chicken" look for 4 to 5 hours after epilating (they recommend you epilate in the evening, giving your skin time to recover before morning). My chest looked like it was having a bad reaction - red raw with horrible white blotches - but it didn't hurt and the blotchiness disappeared in a couple of hours with the redness gone by the next morning (still no pain).
Results? A few hours short of 7 days later my legs are still smooth. It's only 6 days later for my chest but that's still smooth (I used tweezers around the nipples, actually
that was the worst part. By far). No pain at all after epilating. On day two my wife asked my to do her legs for her, then she did my back (which had a similar reaction to my chest).
Pain? Much less than I feared, but it varies according to which part of the body you are epilating. In fact on parts with no or few hairs it tickles/feels "interesting"/feels like a skin massage.
Will I epilate again? Absolutely! There's
some pain, but the results have been excellent.
Note - my wife likes me with hair on my arms so I didn't test it there. There is no freaking way on earth I'd epilate my genital area
