so or sew, anyhow,------- I did something to my face-- . I was told that u can only thread eyebrows-- not true I got my uppeerr lip threaded ; I am not as smart as you gals - but this could be the dumbest thing (some gal said it is so neat not to shave) I ever did as a cd .The pain was -----TO wake up in the morning and not have to shave -oh it is so so so so so neet ( i am pron to in grown hairs - this should be - wow - I have big black things -sorta like blackheads on my upper lip --this is gross -but if i squeese the spot it comes out as a black greessy thing -- still there- I love it so much,it was worth it (i don't have the dol-lars for Laser or Electo - I figure two or three weeks of no shaving my upper lip and then the in growns and the bristle and all the %^$## will be back. Well Needra, hate to say it but you lost me, I have never heard of "threading." It is evidently painful and this girl does not do pain well at all. Also it was interesting reading the SO's posts several weeks ago and almost to a GG the one thing that they seem to have the most problem with accepting was eyebrows! They could put up with heels and wigs and forms and too short dresses and too uch make-up, but eyebrows seem to be where a lot of them drew the line so to speak.

I did a combined search in google on threading and "hair removal". About 16k hits. I guess the caveats for it would be similar to those for plucking, waxing, sugaring, epilation devices, etc. If it works for you, Needra, that's one more tool in your box.

Never heard of threading Virginia? Where I live, we have a huge east indian community and middle eastern people etc. So its hard not to drive down a major street without seeing a sign that says- we do threading- . Heres some info for ya (when i looked at what i posted and read it --well you can all call me- Drunk Girl-sorry,oh well life will go on) Called khite in Arabic and fatlah in Egyptian, it's a less common method in the West for removing hair at the root, used primarily on facial hair. Rows of stray hairs are yanked out with twists of cotton thread.

The practitioner holds one end of the cotton thread in his or her teeth and the other in the left hand. The middle is looped through the index and middle fingers of the right hand. The practitioner then uses the loop to trap a series of unwanted hairs and pull them from the skin. There are also devices made that can hold the thread during the procedure.

Advantages:

Inexpensive, fast, neat, considered less painful than plucking for many. Good for eyebrows and facial hair. Like plucking, results can last up to two to four weeks.

Disadvantages:

Hard to find a professional practitioner outside large cities. Can be painful and cause itching afterwards. Side effects can include folliculitis, a bacterial infection in the hair follicles, skin reddening or puffiness, and changes in skin pigment.
