A nice afternoon at the mall
Went to the mall this afternoon. The clerk at Lane Bryant was super nice and helpful and knew I was shopping for myself. Got some jeans and looked at some black slacks (but they were out of my size). Went by a wig shop, same thing, the clerk knew I was shopping for myself. the had the wig I was looking for. Looked great and fit like a dream (but I also know where to get it wholesale). Happen to notice a number of women glancing my way and smiling as I walked through the mall. I guess, even when I don't realize it, I've feminized that much

Hi Kristens--
Those are the kinds of days to cherish. You feel good, and it radiates to people around you at the mall. It is nice to shop when you're not concerned about anyone's reaction, and you're just trying to get what you want. The clerks might get a lift out of it, too, since it's not everyday they get one of us in the store.

Way to go Kristens, I think it does get easier as you do it more often and most stores teach their staff that they had better not embarras a customer no matter what he/she is buying. And a lot of the women's speciality stores are even more cognisant of us and after training and weeding out sales folk that may have a problem dealing with us, we seem to get "above average" sales help. In Layne Bryant when they say "May I help you!" they are sincere and really want your business, if you happen to get "a bad apple" just a word to manager and I can assure you that person will be looking for employment elsewhere.
Shop ON!!!!!
Love,
Virginia
PS, I don't know anyone at nor do I work for Layne Bryant.

So did I!
Went to the store called "Consigning Women Apparel" in Springfield with my DW, just to see if they had something formal for her to wear to the TGEA Holiday Formal. TGEA members are headed there on 11/7/04, so I wanted to get in before them. Well, they really didn't have much of a selection, but there was this one red dress with a slit up the thigh and double crosssing straps in the back that she tried. Too big. So she told me to try it. Surprised the hell out of me.
Damn, fit good around the chest, but wouldn't zip all the way.
We then went to Tyson's Corner and she looked at a couple of things at Talbot's but nothing worked. Headed on into the mall further, and into Hecht's. Right in front were some gals doing makeovers, and there in one of the chairs was a guy in drab (looked a little like the guy Wilomena in He's a Lady) having makeup put on. I wanted to tell him the color was too dark (dark blue grey eyeshadow) for afternoon, but refrained
WE went to the Prescriptions counter and I had them make over my DW. She loved it, and I bought her the kit.
Anyway, we did some more shopping, but couldn't find her anything better than waht she had at home.
Then, to my surprise we decided to find ME a formal gown. I told her she was going to have to help me. I had planned on attending the formal in drab, in my Tux.
First we looked at Macy's with no luck. We ended up at Landover Mall at another Hecht's store, where I found this black outfit with tiered skirt and angled hemline. The top is a shear black type shaw of the same material as the dress.
Cool, now what size? Last dress I bought was a 26 and a little tight. I was carrying a 24 around but then decided to pick up the 22 also. We snuck into the fitting room and I tried the 22 first. Yeah, it fit.
I can't believe my DW let me look for a gown and helped me find one. A great first. Nice day out shopping.
Now I have to find a wig, shave off the mustache and, since the gown has spaghetti straps, remove the chest and underarm hair. Haven't tried it on with my strapless bra, but I have a feeling I'm gonna have to fasten forms to my chest and go braless.
She said I'm gonna have to let her get a few drinks in at the Holiday Formal. No problem.
