Soft cup bras

What's with these? I found a beautiful satin soft cup (no underwire) bra that I felt I just had to have. I brought my forms to the store and tried on. It looked like I had small saggy puppies! I couldn't adjust the bra to any satisfaction. Are soft cups and breast forms just incompatible?

Hi Susann!
I don´t think they are incompatible but it seems that you have a wrong cup size. You may have bought the same size as your breast forms but cup size varies between different bra manufacturers. I think soft cup bras are actually better with silicone forms because there isn´t any possibilty to damage the forms with an underwire.
I have about 70 bras and some of them ( cheap ones usually) simply don´t fit properly. Better luck next time

Don't forget that G-gals have problems getting bras to give them the A) proper fit, and B) desired look ...

also, remember softcup bras are usually designed and manufactured in light, medium, and firm support measures ... some styles achieve these effects with stitched reinforcements, some with grades and patterns of stretch fabrics, and others with moulded coutours ...

many women now shun softcup bras in favour of padded and/or moulded, contoured versions without underwires - often for comfort, but more often for looks; especially if there is irregularity in the shape and sizes of breasts ...

don't be discouraged if a particular bra doesn't work for you according to your expectations, especially if you've seen an illustration of the bra in an ad with a model ... that gal may have been selected more for her overall visage and ability to draw the consumer's eye than the shape and size of her bust ... many of those ideal ad looks have been created on the model for the shoot by fitters working with photographers under the direction of graphic artists and marketing types ...

also interesting to me is just how much pain a woman will quietly endure in her efforts to create a certain look, as a means of making her fashion and "I Am Woman" statements ... and another twist to this of course, is the extent to which some other women will reach in their efforts to minimize one's perception of their femininity ...

and remember, easier for you in your situation than for most women, in pursuit of a certain look, you can always try a different size, feel and shape of form ...

When we get into matters of taste, there are no right or wrong answers. We like what we like. I personally like the Victoria’s Secret “Body by Victoria” unlined full coverage underwire bra. If I am wrong, I hope an SO will correct me, but I believe that most women wear underwire bras. The underwire feature is no big deal. It helps hold everything in place; it is not uncomfortable; and it is not going to damage either a gg’s breasts or a cd’s silicone breast forms. The underwire is smooth and coated with a thick layer of material. You are not subjectively aware that the underwire even exists. As I said, “different strokes for different folks,” but I would not wear a soft cup, which is made mainly for women who are quite young and/or who need little support.

Hi all,

My wife hates underwires and she does need support (42/44 C) and her favorite is the Bali Double Support 42 C - I bought her 7 of them (broke in a couple of them for her when she said they felt a little tight) and she gave me most of her old ones, including a Bali underwire.

She doesn't like Playtex because they aren't comfortable, but likes Balis. The Balis seem to run a little larger than some cheaper bras labelled with the same band size.

Just some personal observations.

During my term as a ladies wear store manager, an observation made to me by a professional bra fitter was that to her experience, most women were wearing bras that either didn't fit, or weren't adjusted properly - whether it be cup (shape, style, positioning, size) or band / strap problems ... sometimes it was a matter of "taste" (the lack of), and sometimes ignorance ...

As much as I had heard about this particular type of phenomenon, I still remember my surprise, the first time a charming and cheerful, seemingly mature, and obviously mature figured woman, accompanied by her mother, bought a cute, little black dress, 1 range and 2 sizes too small for her against my recommendation ... I guess she thought she needed something in her closet that said "Slut" ...

Later, when I broke my own rule and dated her (once only), I realized that along with the mysteries of life, a mixture of booze and prescription drugs can do weird things to one's grasp of what's generally considered to be reasonable and appropriate ...

Perhaps I should qualify something for the poor dear in question - that particular store was a Clearance outlet for the primary chain ... I'm sure that had I a 12 regular, she'd have bought it and looked great ... but I had only one of that lovely LBD, an 8 petite, and because of the cut of the dress, and her particular torso, she could actually, just barely squeeze into it with some pain and artificial contraction ...

I gave her a set of complimentary "super duty" phose - the ones with the built-in, industrial strength, crisscross control panels and heavy guage elastic pantybrief top to help herself with the dress ...

She was naturally quite attractive and could make almost anything look good ... for our date, probably knowing we would eat something, she wore a proper fitting sweater top with a skirt ...

It was the weird and cryptic tale of woe she told about some strange and apparently accidental encounter with powerful, high level, criminal elements, and her subsequent indefinite "sick leave" that startled me initially ... the smell of alcohol on her breath during an early afternoon visit to my store shortly after our date was what finally convinced me to reinstate my personal policy of not dating store customers ...

Ahh, yes. I've known quite a few people like that, with obviously unbelievable tales of hidden criminal elements, super-secret government operatives, powerful truth serums administered through the public supply of milk or orange juice, conspiracies led by twelve super-wealthy octogenarians in Switzerland etc. etc.

This is my own opinion and taste. I prefer bras that made with molded cups. Molded cups give me a smooth bust line.

... yeah ... probably one of my reasons for once owning a 1952 Cadillac ... and among the really cool features of the big chromed front bumperettes, in addition to their erotic, stylized (bra)bullet shape, was their size and positioning in front of hood contours between the front centre ornament and headlights which provided a perfect seat and backrest - ideal for parking at the beach, sitting on the car bumper and watching a summer evening sunset while smoking a cigarette - looking, acting, and talking very hip ...

... I have to smile when I hear one of the young dudes at work talk about this or that current model car being sexy - he really has no idea what a sexy car is all about
