A non-event?

Post by Virginia »

Today, Thursday, I took my new friend to lunch. Since she is TG and her next step is SRS, I called her to tell her what I planned to wear. ( Guess that is one big difference between some of us CD and TG.) She said she only wanted to "fit in", i.e. jeans and a sweat shirt, but she said I could dress as I wanted and you know Virginia, even a Chinese restaurant, white knee length tight skirt, long sleeve red silk blouse (Christmasy!) I don't think anyone even gave us a second look. It was my first dining experience, I have been to movies in the daytime, dressed, but not out to eat . Don't like eating alone anyway. So it was really a non - event. There were probably 35 - 40 people in the place.
So girls, Rock and Roll . No one seems concerned anymore, I would still stay away from the "lower class" places. Go for it and remember SMILE!!!
Love,
Virginia

Hi Virginia,

Good for you! I'm so glad you had the experience that you did, and came to the conclusion that crossdressing in public can be (with a little common sense, of course) perfectly safe, fun, and acceptable.

So sad to hear that even in "ol' Virginny", once the home of gracious style, the casual/grunge look has taken over, just as it has here in California, and many, many other places.

I remember a few years ago that stores were selling pre-ripped jeans with holes and tears at the knees, along the leg, and so on. People were going to absurd lengths of casualness to "fit in."

Last night at a restaurant I saw a great example of this trend. A woman in jeans and a sweatshirt carrying a $500 Prada handbag! They were clearly very expensive jeans, but they were still jeans. Oh well!

I have a closet of clothes I never wear. My six pair of jeans, and my t shirts and sweatshirts get all the wear. :-({|=

Am I starting to sound like an aging rock star? ..rofl..
Love and respect,
Rikki

Hi Virgina--
Well, long live non-events like this one! Glad you had some fun having a meal out. My TS friends don't seem to mind being in public with me, and I like that. Your new friend was OK with it, too, from the sound of it. That's generous spirit on her part.

An ex-girlfriend offered to take Anita out to lunch last Sunday, and I was tempted. I wanted to change back before we went to a party that evening, and I knew we'd be rushed if I didn't get the changing done first. So I passed on that, but going out with ggs and other TGs is fun to do.
