Hi Rita

!
Obviously, since I am asking the question, I am not planning on First Event, but I am curious: what and where is it held? I've not heard of it, but then I've led a sheltered life!

Have you a link?
By the way, welcome to the forum!

Hi Rita,
That event is a great event, I've been told. Lorna went either last year or the year before that and I believe she had a blast.
Thanks for bringing it up.

First Event 2005 looks like a conference oriented toward persons who want to live as women, rather than toward generally discreet part-time crossdressers (the main target group of, say, the
En Femme Getaway). That could be an appealing feature or not, depending on what one is seeking. Here is a list of the first several workshops mentioned by the organizers:
- How To Successfully Transition in Your Employment
- Family Through a Gender Transition: Psychotherapy with Spouses, SOs and Children
- Transgender Elders--Being Trans and Aging
- FTM Sexuality
- I Watch My Trans TV: Exploring Gender Diversity in Media Culture
- TransAmazon: A Gender Queer Journey
I would find the fifth one of considerable interest, because I find it fascinating how different groups and issues are portrayed in the mass media, and how such portrayals change over time.

Hi Jamie Ann,
Thanks for posting what's going to be there.

I liked Transgender Elders--Being Trans and Aging that one caught my eye.
One of the cool things about events like this is it allows people to get out and have fun dressed. I think I've even read here about someone who said they didn't go to one event.
Again thanks for posting those workshops Jamie Ann.
