Grayson Perry

Post by Sally »

I was wondering if any of the people here from the United Kingdom have ever come into contact with Grayson Perry., Crossdresser and Potter artist.
He's currently in Australia on a visit and tomorrow night (Thursday 17th) he's presenting an illustrated lecture at the Muesum for Contemporary Art, Circular Quay West, Sydney, in the guise of his alter ego, Claire, for the information of anyone here who is reading this and might like to attend.

Grayson Perry won the 2003 Turner Prize for his ceramics, embroidery/textile and performance work as his alter ego Claire. He has just completed a film commissioned by Channel 4 in the UK on transvestism and is visiting Australia on route to Auckland where he is participating in the group show Mixed up Childhood.

More info on him at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainmen ... 299335.stm

Kind Regards.

Sally.

Greyson is known also as Claire Perry. She is well known in the UK and a member of Rose's Forum. She recently did a documentary on CD/TV/TS to be shown on UK Channel 4, today. Some of the girls on Rose's forum participated in the documentary.

I'm waiting to hear comments from them to find out how it went over.

So far all I've heard from our sisters in the UK is praise for the documentary.

Must have been good.

I hope it gets shown here some time.

Hi Sally,

That is such fantastic news!! :) It kind of fits a stereotype of us being creative, but even that is positive news.

We work so hard with just acceptance, I'll take the press. There are now other children out there who were like us and felt alone that are thinking, "Hmm? I'm not alone?" This is a good thing in so many ways. :)

Thanks again Sally for posting the story!!! :)
