Phylis,
Honey you done us proud
Hell, I did not even know we had a banner??!!
Thank you for being there for us and like Beauty said, did you see some "Hooter's Girls" 'cause I think Lorna would have been one of them!!! I am glad that you had a great time and as I would have expected, a big turn-out. Did you know some of the folks you were marching with and how did you team up with other CD'ers. and what did you wear and tell us all about it!!!
Love, Virginia

Hi Phylis--
I didn't know Manhattan's was the same day as ours here in San Francisco. I also didn't know we had an international banner.
My band played at a pride event on Thursday night, and I was disappointed that we weren't part of the Sunday activities. Our lead singer and his partner have strong connections in the community, so it's puzzling. Maybe next year I'll march.
I'm happy to hear YOU got out, anyway. It sounds like you had fun, and that it was worth it.

Funny.... a few days ago, while I was out with a girl-friend of mine (as in, a genetic woman and not a romantic partner), something like a parade was the very last thing on my mind. I was just out minding my own business, and there wasn't any pride (at least not the kind that would warrant a parade), or any need to impress anyone... Peculiar. I've noticed that the last few times I've been out en femme, I haven't really cared how people have seen me. I was juist out doing my own thing with a good friend, not thinking about the "community" or who was trying to figure out what was under my skirt... On Thursday night of last week, I got to enjoy a consultation, and other than eye make-up, we talked about different stuff going on in life like it was nothing. I think that might be the reason that I find it so hard to post here... I actually live a transgendered lifestyle, and I am very honest with people about it, and I know that it is not something that I want to hide from my future wife. Maybe that's just my parade?
...I don't mean to be a downer, I do hope that you had a good time at the parade, Phyllis-Anne, and I hope that you enjoy all that you do in life. I've just found myself... displeased somehow with the community, and that I'm happy being the only trasngendered person that I know on a personal level.

re the gay pride parade
dearest virginia, thank you for your lovely e mail about our great day yesterday,i heard on the news that there were around 300,000 thousand people there .and we were right in the middle of the march.we had to wait around two hours before we finally started moving but once the parade started moving we held our banner high.now as for the people in our group ,well we are all members of www.crossdressersinternational.org We have an apt in the city and we all met there prior to the parade.we had to walk around 15 blocks to find our group and then we waited to go .i was wearing a pretty flower print skirt with a pink top and a straw hat.i also wore sensible shoes and hose.we must have had our pictures taken the whole way and now we hope to get some more members as now we are out in the world to see.all my love phylis anne

Hi Nick--
It does seem like we all have our parades going, whether they're collective ones like Pride, or our own dealings with family and friends. I'm sorry you're disappointed with the community, but sometimes it is very hard not to judge the very people who are most like yourself.
You understand what they're trying to do, and so you also understand how badly they might be missing the mark. But we all have our own fears and limitations. Hopefully, we can learn from others that we don't have to hold on to them.

Good for you and your group Phylis.
