a brief vacation

It's really nice to be back here. My computer had some problems and I was unable to visit for several weeks.

During that time I had occaision to go stay in a cabin in the woods for several days alone. Lots of walks in the woods and pondering life, lots of reading and writing. Not a soul around for quite a distance.

I spent a great deal of the time en femme. I changed back to drab when I went out into the world for a hike and grocery shopping and so on but at least was underdressed. At all times I had at least one feminine thing on except for a few moments of total nakedness.

Wandering up the abandoned driveway at twilight and across this huge open field in stockings, skirt and top (complete with all the underthings of course) was so much fun. I felt like a ghost (a female ghost) watching the deer in the shadows. And then there was sitting on the porch for hours reading and writing as I watched a nearby lake through the trees. And two nights sleeping in my slip, one night with just that and another with bra, inserts, and stockings also. What a nice way to wake up. Cooking and cleaning in my little cabin like some eccentric strange person in the middle of the woods. I am hoping to write a story about the experience.

Only thing was I forgot my unisex sandlals (No heels for me) So I either wore my guy sneakers or went barefoot. I can tell you that stocking feet in pine needles feels absolutely wonderful, but it is hard on the stockings....

Went it was time to go home I was done and happy to be in guy mode again. I haven't told anyone about this until now although I told everyone about all the other stuff that happened; the hiking and writing that I was very pleased with. And the peacefulness of the lake at dawn. Too bad there were no loons. So much else happened that I could share all my excitement and enthusiasm about that and it sounded complete. So I just left a little bit out. Till now.

It's not that easy to find time for solitude, either around home or away from it. You set up a precious gift for yourself! I have a hard time with that much isolation, but once I get used to it, it's very healing sometimes.

Ah yes the isolation................

The first night I really felt a bit at lose ends. I realized among other things how I have gotten habituated to watching an hour of tv to unwind among other things. And it the woods with the leaves on the trees it gets real dark, so I didn't want to go to far from the cabin once it was night. Not like the Rockies where it is often fairly open and you can see reasonably well at night.

It's funny. Sometimes I really like being completely alone like that. Other times I feel almost panic stricken. Especially in my tiny tent in the rain. Now I bring a little tarp also just so I can sit up in the rain under it. Susan I imagine you will have a lot of these times on the AT. Some places it gets pretty crowded but others there aren't that many people except the thru hikers and partial thru hikers. Personally I have found it really helps to have a paper back for the evening even if I don't read it-it's just there if I want to. Much more fun to interact with the other hikers, if there are any.

It occurs to me that some hiker going the other way might be fun to have a chat about all this cd stuff with-you'll never see them again.....
