My first Tri-Ess meeting

Hi Ladies,

I just wanted to give everyone an update.
After going through their interviewing process, I finally made it to my first Tri-Ess meeting in Denver. Tau Sigma Kappa (http://www.rmtsk.org/) hosted their annual Ornament Exchange last night.
The event was basically a Christmas party with a pot luck meal.
We talked and ate and drank and met some of the most wonderful people I've ever had the pleasure of being with.
After the meal, everyone gathered 'round the tree to open gifts. We picked numbers from a "hat" and when your number was called, you had a choice of picking a new gift or 'stealing' one previously opened. It was a fun time for all.
This meeting was not en femme, so guys were guys and girls were girls. TSK used the term DREAM (DRessed Elegantly As a Man) 8) instead of the "en drabbe" phrase more widely used. I thought that was kinda cool. A bit of a positive spin for "Guy mode". This proved to be a real good experience for Amber too. The setting was more comfortable and she relaxed rather quickly. (An important improvement over the GGA meetings in New Orleans)

I'll admit that I'm dying to get out and about, but I'll just have to wait until the January meeting. ::sigh::

It was still a very enjoyable evening for both of us. In fact, after we pulled in the driveway at home, Amber realized she was very hungry. It seems that she had such a great time talking to everyone, she didn't eat much. #-o

Hugs to all,
Kyra

Congratulations on finding a group to interact with Kyra.

I would have thought not dressing would have been more of an option because most look quite different when dressed, thus keeping their identity secret. Sounds like everyone that attended was comfortable with themselves and not worried about secrecy. As it should be, IMHO ;)

I hope the coming year turns out as you desire.

Hi Kyra
So happy you had a nice night. I'm in my second year with Triess, and you'll hear both negatives and positives about the society. I'm quite happy, I've met a great bunch of ladies. As Donna said, security is an issue, but its actually encouraged to meet others in any mode....if you feel comfortable with that. Nothing is forced.
We also had our annual christmas dinner saturday night at a restaurant...the second year I went enfemme....and it was wonderful. Funny, we had the same type gift exchange, maybe its a rule I missed:)
My last comment....LOL...somehow I do look 10 years younger while enfemme.......but..I'm an old bat anyway. Enjoy your group, you'll meet so many nice people.

Kyra,
I too am excited that you went and had a good time. I am not the least bit shocked about your meeting such nice people. We are nice people aren't we!!!!!! =D> =D> =D> =D>
Remember me telling about going to the Roanoke Pride dinner/dance and being somewhat tentative about how to act if asked to dance?? Well the guys that asked me to dance and danced with me both slow and fast were perfect gentlemen. No unnecessary touching or gropping or anything that a lady would not want to deal with.
Yes, we are nice people!!!!!!!! Yeah for us!!!!!!

Hi all,

Kyra,

Glad you enjoyed your first meeting; it must open up many more horizons. I'm especially glad to hear that Amber enjoyed herself as well.

"Dressed Elelgantly As a Man," eh? :-k Gives a whole new meaning to the expression, "Dream Girl."

By the way, that's how we do the Christmas gift exchange at work, also (picking or stealing); we decide whose turn it is by playing a "high/low" hand with a half dozen dice. It's a total blast.

I hope you have a merry Christmas, Kyra, and that you and your family continue to find happiness and health in the coming year.

Love,
CJ

Kyra

Congratulations on your wonderful evening. I'm glad Amber enjoyed it too. I know the January meeting seems a long way away but it'll come around soon enough. Not soon enough for you, I know!

Good luck with your new friends.

Congratulations Kyra!

I'm glad that you had a great Christmas celebration! It's wonderful that you found a supportive group in Denver. There are many others who also are looking for support. You are not alone.

Kyra, I am glad you and your wife had a good time. My wife and I got a chance to meet some of the Denver Tri-Ess people/couples when we attended the SPICE convention over the summer. The Denver people and the other Tri-Ess people were like a great bunch of people to have fun with and the envolvment of the spouses is great. We had fun the short amount of time we were with them both the cders and spouses. Manybe someday I will join and get to a Tri-Ess meeting.
I would have you say hi from me, but I know I would forget some of them. Actually I am current at a loss for any of their names. Isn't that terrible... we were together for 3 days and I suddenly can not remember any of their names. But I guess my wife and I were working on our issues for being there, and that was time well spent.

Enjoy,

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the huge response! Ladies, you're the best.
Group Hug!!!
((G))

In reflecting back on the evening, the whole group...yes, the WHOLE group interacted like a family. As with most large families, people were scattered everywhere. A few stood in the kitchen, and more in the Den. A gathering in the dining room, oh yeah, a few smokers outside...shivering with a smile. (gotta get that nic fix) There was joking and laughing throughout the house. A very merry evening indeed.

Donna, the meeting was at someone's private residence. Although security is important, there was little chance of a surprise encounter.

Yes, Virginia, IMHO also. :dancing:

CJ, you are a dream-girl! :kisscheek:

Hugs to all,
Kyra

Hi Kyra,
I'm so happy for you, the wife and I drove all the way to Houston for our meetings. We stayed with a wonderful couple and we also went to a person home for a get together with the rest of the members of Tau Chi and a great evening of food and fun. It was with this chapter that I had my first real night out with the girls, oh I miss that bunch so much. Good luck on your up coming outings. (--) Carol Ann

Thanks Carol Ann! *^^*

I really think I'm going to enjoy this group. (TSK)

I'm so sorry to hear of the difficulties you're having. I hope things work themselves out.

Hugs,
Kyra

Hi Kyra-

<delurk from the closet after several looonnng months>

Glad you finally got to a meeting and had fun with RMTSK!!! =D> They really are a great group, really nice, and pretty diverse too! I might have mentioned before to you that some of the members are from Ft Collins (or close by), and several are from bigger towns in Wyoming. You might be able to find someone from your area that is headed down to Denver (or nearby cities a little east or south) and carpool.

I've only gone to one or two TSK meetings over the past several years. My problem is I don't get out much at all. Lots of family commitments with young children make it tough. Hope to see you some time at a TSK event, or the first Fridays at GIC. Now I just need some chutzpah to ask my wife about going out :-k - last time was nearly a year ago when she was out of town with my son.

Again, glad you had fun!
-Joanie C.

Good for you Kyra!

I'm dying to meet wonderful people like ourselves face to face. IThere's a group in New Haven 25 minutes from me and my new years resolution is to join. I'm so happy you had a great time. Gives me more incentive to go to a meeting. Big hugs and Christmas kisses!

Love
