Nice week-end!

Well last week-end was not only full, but fun!
I drove to Richmond, Friday. Got to the hotel took a nap then started getting ready to go out. First time ever, I never lost a nail! Anyway, one reason that I was in Richmond was that on Sunday the AAU was having there National Powerlifting Meet and the East Coast National Bench Press Meet. For those of you who may not know, I am a powerlifter. I currrently hold several world, American and National powerlifting records.
Anyway, I left my room about 10:00pm to go to one of the clubs. I was on the 5th floor and waiting for the elevator a fellow lifter whom I have know for many years came up. Now he is black and weights around 220 pounds and is one of the nicest, gentlest people you would ever want to meet. He, needless to say did not recognize me and was the perfect gentleman. Allowed me to enter the elevator first, stood to one side and me on the other. I know exactly what was going on in his mind. I knew, could feel him "checking me out!" He was thinking, "cute brunette, gotta be scared, enclosed in this elevator with this big black guy!" 1st floor, he let me off first and I headed for the lobby door and here come three other lifters that I know. They practically fell all over each other to open the doors for me! I just smiled and nodded a big, "thank you!"
Nothing really special the rest of the night, two clubs, shot some pool and left about 3:30am.
Spent Saturday with my grandkids. My daughter knows but it is a "don't ask don't tell" relationship and my CD'ing never came up!
Sunday, the Powerlifting meet -not my most stellar effort! I did however manage to set two world records, three American records and four state records. I was not real happy with the amounts of my lifts, but then again I am at the point in my career that if no one had to dial 911 and I finish the meet I figure I did OK!
Love ya,
Virginia
PS: Donna was there too and honey, the pictures did not come out real good, I am still debating posting any of them!

Virginia read your post.....you set several records but felt you should have done better :? :? :? :? :? Glad it went as well as it did anyway and that the 911 number went unused.

The elevator story is pretty funny. I guess it goes to show how much of what we percieve is contextual. It didn't occur to him that this cute muscular woman might be a guy he thought he knew so he didn't see what might otherwise might have been obvious.

Thanks for a fun story.

Sounds like a good meet to me Virginia. You can wait until the next meet to lift even more, then you can set more records that way :P

Could you Email me the pictures anyway Virginia? And if you get some from Michelle, pass them along also?

I'm dissapointed Virginia.

Absaroka - I'm sure it wouldn't have occurred to him, or any of the other lifters, that 'this cute muscular woman might be a guy' - - whenever Virginia is 'dressed' she's always wearing long, loose-fitting sleeves, so her 'muscles' are hidden. Go take a look at her Gallery photos and you'll see what I mean. Besides, there are many women who are powerlifters, and I believe Virginia has previously mentioned that her coach and training partner is a GG who also holds several state, national, and world records.

Jeannie - I'm with you, as the only records I hold are vinyl record albums from the 70's and 80's!! I was but a mere child in the 60's!!

Any way, Virginia - I am so glad that you and Donna had a great time this weekend!! \:D/ If you have any photos we'd love to see them added to your Gallery!

Silver Lady. I'm still a mere child. Who in their right mind wants to grow up! Grown ups are all stiffs. When I think about it Mini should be sainted for staying 25 years with me. I even want to leave me!

PS. If you ever want to borrow my Soupy Sales lunch box just let me know Hon. Here's a trivia question. What was Soupy Sales real name?

Milton Supman - - but I cheated and got my information from here:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0758130/bio

I didn't realize Soupy Sales was still alive and well at 80 years young!! I always enjoyed watching him on TV - one of the classic comedians that can never be replaced!

Soupy Sales - now that brings back memories! I remember watching him get bleeped off TV out in California once. His "joke" went over my head for a while but the TV screen went blank for about two minutes. He was doing a kids show and acting like the clown he was: "Hey, kids, I took my girlfriend to the ball game the other day and we had a great time -- I kissed her between the strikes and she kissed me between the balls!"
ZZZZZZZZZZZUUUUUUUUUUUUUpPPPPPP went the TV!

Lets not forget Soupy's infamous New Years day show...copied here from Wikipedia "On New Year's Day 1965 Soupy, miffed at having to work on the holiday, ended his live broadcast by encouraging his young viewers to tiptoe into their still-sleeping parents' bedrooms and remove those "funny green pieces of paper" from their pants and pocketbooks. "Put them in an envelope and mail them to me," Soupy allegedly instructed the children. "And you know what I'm going to send you? A post card from Puerto Rico!" In his 2001 autobiography Soupy Sez! My Life and Zany Times, Soupy admits it is true. He was suspended by the station for two weeks for encouraging children to steal"

I remember those events.

Soupy Sales was our version of Pee Wee's Playhouse and Mr. Wizard was our Bill Nye the Science guy. Where are White fang and Black tooth when you need them? I'm doing the mouse right now.
Ok Silver Lady. I'll let the cheating go this time! What was Tony Curtis, the actor, real name?Gotta run. It's 2:25 PM on wednesday and the Warden will be here when she gets out of school at 3:00. It's cell check day. I hope she doesn't find the shiv I fashioned out of a pair of my 4 inch heels!

All in a day's play. Just glad to know the wig didn't fall off during those world records.

See, Virginia, that's what guys should be scared of around us T-girls--we know exactly what the guys are thinking, at least some of the time.

Nothing really special the rest of the night, two clubs, shot some pool and left about 3:30am
Oh, no, Virginia, that's way too late for a competitive athlete. No wonder you only set 9 records on Sunday--you were still recovering from Friday night.

I was not real happy with the amounts of my lifts, but then again I am at the point in my career that if no one had to dial 911 and I finish the meet I figure I did OK!
I get allergic even thinking about lifting weights now. Certainly I did it in younger days, but now I double up on any heavy lift that I can. More power to you, V! Glad Donna got to make it down there, too.

That sounds like an interesting weekend! Just out of curiosity, though, I thought that the National Powerlifting Championships are to be held in mid-July in Oklahoma City. Am I mistaken?

That's correct Jamie, July 15-16. Welcome back.

On 3-4 of June 2006 the AAU had what was officially called the Raw Nationals, Triple Crown Classic, Virginia State Championships & East Coast Bench Press Contest
