to the movies!

Post by Virginia »

Last night Virginia and her SO went to see the movie, "Marie Antoinette" Personally, I had seen the trailer on the TV and the period costumes are what attracted me to it. Well we made the last show, started at 9:30. My SO wore a black skirt and a silk print blouse, under a black leather coat as it was a bit cold or so she said -- it was only 29!!!! Virginia wore a brownish knit knee length rather tight skirt and a creme colored cable knit sweater and - yes a heavy leather coat! Well, it was 29 degrees!!!!! Oh and I had on brown knee length leather boots!
Why do I tell you this!? Well we were directed to the upstairs theater about 10 minutes before the film began. Open the door and walked in. Let me digress, this particular theater is a neighborhood type that with a lot of donations was refurbished and now has eight individual theaters which seats from 20 up to about 75. They tend to show a lot of "independent films" like "TransAmerica" and others.
Anyway we walked in and it was almost full about 50+ ============= GIRLS!!!! ' er young ladies, uh? young women?! I think it was a required attendence by some class, studying at Hollins College ( a very "upscale" girl's college) here in Roanoke. We had to take seats in the third row from the bottom, (yes it gave me a headache) sitting that close to the screen, even though it was not that large a screen.
Just as the movie started a couple, early twenties perhaps walked in and had to sit in the first row and he was the only guy in the place!
No instances, no problems, no comments, Virginia just fit in and just a girl and her girlfriend going out to a movie.
Would I recommed the movie? Yes, if you like period clothing, it was a somewhat shallow movie, but the acting and the site selection and the clothes were marvelous!!!
Keep the faith ladies,
Love to you all,
Virginia

PS: The walk back to the car at 11:45 was - yes cold, it had dropped to 28! from the song! "I Got My Love to Keep Me Warm!"
First star to the right, then straight on 'till mornin!

Glad you had a good time. I dated my share of Holly Colly Dollys in my days at UVA, almost married one.

I want to see the movie. I love the actress and period costumes. Of course it was a shallow movie. While she loved her people she loved herself more.
