Acrylic nails and outing

Post by Steffie »

Hi girls,

Yesterday was the first day of my vacation. I did something I never did before. I went to a nail salon but instead of a manicure I got some acrylic nails. I went in male mode and asked the girl to give me nails that were slightly extended so as to still look male. I thought if I went as Steffie, she might make them more female but I think I got androgynous nails. wThese seem to look better than my male nails but will not give me away when I'm male. She put clear polish on them. I will no use nail polish on them because if I take of with acetone, it will dissolve the nail. The lady asked if they were for a party and I said yes. I did not tell her I am a crossdresser. There is a pic of my hands below. No I can tap my nails on hard surface and I can hear that clicking sound which I love. :) Just like I love the clicking sound when my high heels are on the pavement. :)

I then went to change and went shopping in the mall as Steffie. I wore jeans and a top. I got some belts and clip-on earrings. In the early evening I decided to drive to NYC and did some dancing. I had a great time. Below are pics.

You know, they make non-acetone polish removers, like "Pretty Nails".

You could ask you manicurist if its safe to use on acrylic and over a couple layers of clear top coat.

I have acrylic nails and my nail tech uses acetone to remove the polish from my nails. I use clear polish on them. One time she had to strip all the acrylic off my nails and redo them all over. I had to soak my nails in a hot solution for 30 minutes to dissolve the acrylic coating. So using a little acetone to remove you nail polish is not going to ruin you nails. But if you like to play safe, as note there are non-acetone nail polish remover.

I use non-acetone removers all the time with my acrylics and they don't suffer at all as long as they aren't over due for a refill in which case it does tend to lift the rear of the acrylic. Infact I am in the process of changing colours right now. Acetone removers also won't adversely effect the nail either but I find that I have to roughen them up a bit before applying polish. I usually have to have a refill every 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the weather and my diet at the time.

My nails are considerably longer and more feminine and people at work can tell what type of weekend I have had by the colour of polish I arrive with on Monday! Brighter colours usually mean I have been out and about on the "norm" scene. Darker colours especially purples and dark blood red means I have spent the entire weekend within the goth scene. And black generally means I have had to spend the weekend or at least part of it with my mother! :P
