Going out and taking busses and subways as Steffie

Post by Steffie »

Hi girls,

I've gone out to NYC a few times this holiday season except now I tried taking bus and then subways when there. It is fun to be out there en-femme, especially riding the subway. Now I can get around the city easily an can have fun doing it and still go shopping and to my favorite hangouts too.

public transit

Post by JB »

I take public transit almost all the time when I go out dressed femme. Mostly BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and busses. It's definitely fun being out and about in this way!

Yes, it really is great to be out and about like that. I'm on the Washington DC Metro several times a month, and it's always a thrill. In fact, getting to my destination usually turns out to be at least half the fun!

CD'ing on METRO

Post by Kendra Lynn »

Best wishes to everyone for 2007!
I do not drive and must use public transit if I'm going away from the downtown Silver Spring area.
For example, HOLLYWOOD FASHION WIGS is located in old town Alexandria, VA and that is about a 1 hour trip from here. The trip includes a transfer at METRO CENTER.
I've been riding METRO "dressed" during the day and at night.
Generallly, there are no problems, but I'm still nervous about groups of boisterous teenagers and young working class men. Drunk sports fans coming back from a game are not pleasant to be around either.
I've had some interesting experiences while riding METRO "en femme." A young man gave his seat to me; and another time a man gave me a fare card which he thought still had $ on it. (the card didn't work, but it's the thought that counts). I've also spoken with other riders while "dressed." Some are curious, and with others I just interacted as I normally would. I have not developed a "femme" voice.
Saturday night is probably the worst time to ride METRO, since there will be more people likely to give a CD trouble.
I'm sure there will be more METRO adventures in my future.
Has anyone else had particularly good or bad experiences with public transit?
Peace-- Kendra Lynn.

First time out enfemme in this area was a trip on the subway from Crystal City to McPherson Sq in DC. It was Halloween, and I still had a mustache. No one said a thing.

I've always had fun riding the DC Metro, both day and night. I look at my trips as opportunities to test and improve my passing ability, and to show off a few of my favorite outfits. It's a thrill to be in close proximity to a lot of people, on my own, without an easy "escape".

I agree that Saturday (and Friday) nights can be a little scary - a bunch of loud, drunk frat-boy types or young blue-collar guys (sometimes it's hard to tell the difference from their behavior) piling onto the train, bellowing "f... this" and "f... that" certainly gets my heart beating faster. One time a group of them ended up sitting all around me, but nothing happened. The event ultimately proved to be a real confidence-builder, because if they had "read" me, they definitely would have let me (and everyone else in the car) know about it!

A guy tried to pick me up on the platform one evening - actually invited me to a nice club. And a few people have asked me for the time or directions, and not given any indication that they noticed anything unusual.
