My first weekend out in 07

I just wanted to share with everyone a wonderful experience I had this weekend.

It's been a while since I have been out, and have been practically climbing the walls. I finally had a Saturday evening that was open and had to jump at the chance.

Since the kids were home, I went to my friend Sherrie's to get ready. I didn't have anything planned for the evening. I was up for anything and Sherrie suggested a dance club downtown. Neither of us had been there before, but Sherrie knew the DJ and said they play 80's genre music.

We got there early, before the place filled up. We ordered drinks and sat down to talk. Before I realized it, there were people everywhere. We met the DJ's girlfriend and she introduced us to so many people. (I have to be honest and say I don't remember half of their names) Anyway, they wouldn't take no for an answer and had me out on the dance floor fairly quickly. Well, my stamina isn't what it once was. I just couldn't keep up. I had to sit down, but they dragged me back out again and again. I was very tired by the end of the night.I loved it! :dancing:

A few things surprised me last night. Now, granted I've not been to a dance club in a looooooooonnnggg time. The club played all 80's hits, yet there were more young people than I could have imagined. :-k Hmm, maybe there's hope for today's youth! 8) Also, the club was GLBT friendly. We knew that before going, but I was surprised at the mixture of people. A multitude of age groups, a multitude of races, all genders (no, I don't think there were any missing) -- dancing and having a great time.

It was a lot of fun for me. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. A definite on the "Do again" list.

I hope everyone had a good weekend.
Hugs,
Kyra

Kyra,

It sounds like you had a blast. I am with you on the 80's music. I love it. Elayne on the other hand has an original Woodstock poster. ](*,) I hope that you have many more nights like that one in 2007.

Thanks ladies!

I guess when you grow up listening to certain types of music, it sticks with you. I did have a lot of fun, and you can bet I'll be back there again. Next time I want Amber (my SO) to go with us. She doesn't mind clubs, but she feels awkward dancing with another female. I told her "at this club, we would blend right in!" She didn't seem too excited. We'll just have to see. I don't want to force her, yet I want to have her there too.

:) Hugs,
Kyra

 Sorry Kyra you made me laugh!! When I first moved to Milwaukee I went with girls from the office out to the clubs. All the girls got up to dance and all the men sat there and watched like it was truly a cattle call! I was mortified that none of the men danced. So it makes me giggle that your SO doesn't dance with other women. It took me a while to get the hang of it but the electric slide works for everyone!!

OMG! I remember doing that one. :P

I hope she'll warm up to the idea. Nothing gives me more joy than to be dressed and out with the love of my life! *^^*

Hi Kyra--
I hope you can get Amber out there, too. It's fun to hear about your good times, though. You're starting the new year out right.
