Goodwill rocks!!!!

Post by Virginia »

Well we done good ---- again at Goodwill!!! I found a pair of 3" heels, very dressy, a very subtle, gray, black, gold paisley flocked. They are gorgeous, not loud and are by "Amalfi", the style name is Olivia, and the recommended price is $80.00+. They are brand new, never been worn and I paid a budget busting $2.25 for them! I also picked up a suede jacket, kind of pinkish for $3.00. Then a long black dress with thin straps (my first), but only because I found a gorgeous, black applique jacket to go with it - what an outfit; my black bolero jacket also goes with it. Would put two piece oufit at over $200.00 - I got it for $4.50. Also got a pair of VS sleep panties, brand new with tag $9.00 for $1.00. Let's see, oh, a nice leather skirt for $3.50 and a casual tan jean skirt for $3.50.
If you have any Goodwill's near you, check them out. Just wheel your buggy into the dressing room with you and nobody cares!!!!!

OH, SL looked those shoes up on the net and the retail is $280.00. Guess I will start keeping them in a safe. I plan to wear them this week-end though.

I can only wish. I am horrible at shopping. I would love to be able to find items at Goodwill. I did get up the nerve once to purchase a full slip and a short slip once. Saved a ton.

I would love to find a short skirt and a blouse. I want more clothing but can't afford it yet. Maybe I should try shopping at Goodwill again, I'll be out of town this evening.
Huggs,

I've never been a big thrift store fan.... to hard to find my size and find something I like plus I'm usually pretty rushed... sooo I'd much rather buy something new, and deeply discounted at Kohl's on clearence.... not much more money really but easier for my just-in-time crossdressing life style... lol But I know a lot of girls find some really nice things there so more power to you....

If you have the time to go through the selection, you can generally find some good bargains, and each Goodwill store is different, depending upon their customer base. We have 4 stores in our area, and 2 of them have the best selections. The 2 stores that we have shopped at in Richmond had great offerings, also. However, when I still lived in FL the store nearest me had a terrible selection - I thought it was nothing more than a perpetual garage sale of clothes and household goods that should have been thrown away. Again, no two stores are alike and you do have to shop around, and that's part of the fun, too.

I have bought all of my suede and leather coats, jackets, and skirts at Goodwill here in Roanoke, and never paid more than $35 - and that was for a full-length leather coat. Several of the skirts were $3.50 and all were in excellent condition. My greatest finds to date, though, have been a Vera Wang formal gown for only $4.00 and my bridal dress for $50.00. We estimate the bridal dress to have been between $800 - $1,000 new given all the detailed work on the gown and train, and the train is not removable. There was nothing wrong with either dress other than needing to be dry cleaned.

Again, it does take time and we don't always "strike it rich" at Goodwill.

We have many "thrift" stores. In our area the Junior League wears an outfit once and off it goes to the thrift stores. Great clothes at "I feel like I'm stealin' prices". Missy is a great sale shopper!
